In the state of WV if you turn 19 while still in school you become ineligible to play any sport. You can play up until you turn 19 but after that you have to stop.

In no way am I saying it’s right what he did. Let me say that first. It’s wrong and he shouldn’t have done it. But unless there’s something I missed, I don’t think this is like pedophile territory. Sadly, a lot of 13 year old girls are trying to grow up too quickly these days. I work at a high school that is connected to a jr high and these kinds of things go on more than you think. Girls are becoming sexually active younger and younger. I don’t remember a case at my school where a 19 year old was having relations with a 13 year old, but I’m sure it’s gone on, I just haven’t heard about it. But I know for a fact that there have been several relationships like this where they boy was 17-18 and the girl was 13-14. When I was in high school I remember I had a teammate that was a junior dating (and having sex with) a 7th grader. He was 17 and she was 12 and turned 13. They didn’t even hide it.

Again, let me say that this is wrong, but I don’t think it’s the type of thing that should have to haunt him forever. More like a dumb kid mistake. Unless he forced her. In that case he’s a POS. Sadly, kids all over are starting in the 7th and 8th grade. It’s the world we live in now.

I had similar sentiments but was afraid to reply since this is such a slippery slope. Not like some creepy old guy praying on a under age girl but more like a teenager being with a young lady really too young for rationale thinking. I'm not saying this because I am a WKU fan, that is irrelevant in this context. When you think about a 30 year old man being with a 24 year old woman in doesn't warrant a second thought.
There are a lot of worse things a 19 year can be accused of. I think Loretta Lynn was 16 when she married so it use to be nothing illegal. I saw where a recruit for Alabama is accused of murder which is so much more serious. Hopefully this young man will find a young lady closer to his age and have a successful life and put this behind him whatever path life leads him down.

I don't know if it right or wrong but I always liked the law Louisiana had on the books dealing with this situation/problem. I can remember from living there they have a 3 year age range for minors from 12-17. A 17 year old could go down as low as 14, 16 year old 13 and 15 year old 12 and not be charged with anything. If you go out of those ranges if parents had a problem the minor could be charged anywhere from a misdemeanor to felony rape.

When I was 19 I don't care how cute a 13 year old might have been or that she may have looked much older, when I knew she was 13 she was still just a kid then and just a year or 2 removed from playing with Barbie's.

I believe Kentucky has a similar law. Under 16 is always a no-no. 16-18 is okay as long as other person is under 21. Above 18 is always okay.

I just think the kid shouldn’t have his life ruined over this. It’s not a good situation. It shouldn’t happen. But I’m around 19 year old senior boys and 13 year old girls every day. And in many cases those 19 year old boys are just as ill prepared to make a good decision as the 13 year old girls are. Just my opinion, but 19 or not, they’re all kids in their thinking if they’re still in high school.

I don’t want to be labeled as the butthole that thinks it’s okay, but I don’t think it’s okay. No 13 year old needs to be sexually active no matter how old the partner is. However, in the world we live in today, it goes on a lot. There’s a lot worse things he could have done.

It is wrong but at some of these smaller schools where the junior high is mixed in with the high school, I could see this happening.

Years ago 50+ this was fairly common. I actually know a situation similar years ago, he might have been 20 and she was 14. The parents knew they were dating and approved. They are still together married with 3 or 4 kids

50 years ago people were getting married at 17/18. Now a days the maturity gap is so large it's just unacceptable. A girl might try and act like she is older but it's still a huge gap. I'm not blaming just the guy but he is 6 years older and should know better.
