I wouldn't hold your breath on UC moving anytime soon.

Or grab some popcorn from a spectator as he runs up the court...

Wichita's last rivalry in the MVC was with Illinois State and it developed over one play!

Crazy stuff happened in that game - the play of course, the refs allowed the wrong player to shoot the free throws for Wichita, Wichita winning the game in the last 41 seconds from 7 down, and a confrontation between coaching staff after the game.

That was the year Wichita went to the Final 4 - they probably would not have received an invite had they lost.

Dude, you had to bring it up. His scrappy play reminded me of that Temple punk Pepe Sanchez too.

God, I hated that punk. I remember him chirping in Kmarts ear at the free throw line and Kenyon swatting him away.

What the hell ever happened to Charlotte anyway. Seemed like after Lutz left they totally fell off the map.

Did not get back to Cincy until about 3 AM. Was my 2nd year and it was hard to get to my 8 am Organic Chem Lecture at 8 am.

Doss, you may have overdosed on those organic "chemicals". UC beat BRADLEY, not Wichita, to win the MVC Championship at the Evansville neutral site and advance to the NCAA tournament. UC and Bradley were both Top 5 teams and Wichita was definitely not too far behind with Dave Stallworth and Nate Bowman.

Yup it was Bradley. Back then if you did not win the Conference you were NIT bound.

Compared to the old Armory the Evansville facility was impressive.

It was indeed Bradley who UC played and won a playoff game for the MVC championship against, but it was Wichita who ended UC's 39 game winning streak earlier that season with a 1 point victory over the Bearcats.

The student section was right behind the opposing team's bench in those days, and Dana Kirk and his team would spend the game yelling back and forth with us students as we insulted them during the game. Memphis State had some really great teams back in those days. Too bad we did not.

Had a similar experience with USF in the late 80s. This is when we played at Xaviers old home. Our cheering section got under the skin of South Florida so badly that after the game they came under the basket where we were seated and cussed us and grabbed their crotch. Unfortunately, we had lost as usual.

Wow. Didn't know we played USF back then.

I looked it up and we played USF 3 years in a row in the late 80s, and during those years USF was a Sun Belt school that averaged 7 wins a season. We lost all three games.

He would blow kisses to his girlfriend at home games. She was so ugly she could have went to Xavier.

Anyone remember the dark days of 2008 when we lost to Bradley in the first round of the CBI? Crazy where we are 10 years later.

Sadly, yes. Fortunately for UC fans, the Bearcats really had it going in football in those years which removed some of the sting from basketball's rebuilding period. I think Mick benefited from that too as patience was needed to build a solid foundation prior to the new normal of ranked teams and annual NCAA Tourney appearances.
