Interesting first week on the Men's side. Home teams go 8-4 with Miami, BG, Buffalo and western picking up early "birdies". Buffalo was very impressive with the win in Muncie. It was interesting to see Ohio get thumped at Central while Kent lost by 14 at Northern, only to have them swap opponents and have Ohio top Northern & Kent beat Central, both by double digits.

When it comes to hoops, none of this stuff surprises me. I can't speak for other teams, but CMU is a big 3 point shooting team, so on a given night we could beat a really good team if they are falling, but also lose to a really poor team if they aren't.

The first week was like the past few seasons. Home teams take the W in most games except for the worst handful of teams, and the top 1-2 teams being able to steal some games on the road against the middle of the pack teams. The only game that really seemed like a surprise was BG beating EMU on the road and perhaps UB beating BSU by the margin they did.

Looks like its UB then everybody else in the east. UB looks like they are one of the strongest teams in the MAC in a while. They might roll thru the MAC and put up and impressive overall record. They made quick work of two the MAC's better teams. Ball State also among top teams. Buffalo is that good. WMU might be third best team after that it is going to be long job. Akron, Ohio and Kent State are clearly down this year, but the are always tough at home and in Cleveland. This might be the year UB is just that much stronger where it does not matter.

It’s still early. But looking like WMU and Kent forgot there were games today. Akron too.
These will probably get closer. But lots of lopsided runs out of the gate.

10 minutes into the game, and the Zips have still not made a single field goal. I have never seen a MAC team play with as much ball pressure as Buffalo has tonight.

I don't know if Kent State put lead in their sneakers or what but they were down by 29 in the first half; ended up getting as close as 8 in the second, but Miami wins by 11 in the end.

Put Akron another ten spots below everybody else. Groce sucks. He got incredibly lucky to have DJ Cooper fall into his lap and rode that to a Big Ten job where he was a failure. I don't think he ever sniffs a MAC championship at OU, let alone a NCAA win without Cooper sinking circus shots.

Not 10 spots below NIU. We're right there with you. Somehow we still win some home games but almost never a road game. Without any big guys in the middle that can score or rebound for us, it's going to be a long year.

Most schools don't win championships if you take away their best player.

I love watching UB tear through the early part of the conference slate but it's a little early to put us head and shoulders above all others. Lets talk again in late February when my Bulls are still hopefully on top.

If you really think that about that 2012 Ohio team, you weren't watching very closely. That team defended like motherf)(*&rs. And there was a lot of other talent in that group.

Buffalo got off to a slow start but hit form in the second half. It's our first ever 4-0 start in MAC play
