Ah yes! Herb Harrison! He was a freshman the year UAB finished 15-16 for the season, the second worst win/loss record in UAB history. They might as well have played Herb. It would not have mattered. They needed all the help they could get. Mike Davis did everything he could with Cameron Moore and Jordan Swing as his star players that season to win fifteen games and cough up sixteen losses. Did Mike Davis resign that year, or was he fired? Or did he go on to greener pastures? I forgot.

With this post I remind myself not to be negative.

WKU jumped ahead of MTSU and with their top 100 guy now eligible (he had 16 sat.) they might be considered a favorite to win the league.

UAB should be in the conversation. It would help if William Lee would start producing.

I think I saw a tweet that had kenpom predicting WKU & MTSU & ODU all going 14-4 and UAB 12-6.

I would hope we can get by with no more than 4-5 losses. Not 6. I see 3 more likely losses with a possible 4th. But we often have 1-2 WTF losses.

There is absolutely no reason for us to not be in the top 4.

Yes, KenPom now has the top three going 14-4 and UAB at 12-6.

Who does he have 5th, 6th and 7th and their projected records?

Id guess Marshall might be 5th now since Tech has been stinking up the conference.

But Tech will still be tough enough to beat us when we visit there unless we come to play. Pretty much ANY road game is the same. Think any game is easy and we will lose.

After UAB at 12-6, KenPom projects four teams at 9-9: Marshall, UTSA, North Texas, and La Tech.

USM and UTEP are projected at 7-11. Charlotte and FIU at 6-12, and Rice and FAU at 5-13.

RE: KenPom.com Update
The updated Massey Composite has MTSU 54 and WKU 55. That’s followed by ODU at 70. UAB is 112, where an RPI of 207 doesn’t help matters.

You are the only one reporting that Lavender won't be back. What are your sources?

No, I'm not. I speculated it. Someone else said he absolutely wouldn't be back.
Im not sure if it was blazergold or who exactly but someone said it on blazertalk not that long ago. Someone who has access to press row.

Reading between the lines, it appears he quit. Sat out a few games and came back.
Probably because quitting at the end of the semester would not help him anyway.

Do you think he will come back next year to be 3rd string at the 1,2 and 3?

Will he beat out Nick or Scootie or Nate or Jalen for playing time? Would he beat out Boyce too?

Id like it if he stayed and gave us extra depth next year. But I'm guessing at least a half dozen schools closer to home can offer him more playing time as a grad transfer.

I long thought he might be one of our better defenders but thats just me speculating. I'm not a coach. Nor do I play one on TV.

I can buy UAB as bad as 12-6. But I hope for better. And I can buy a lot of equality for teams 5-8. But one of them will do better than 9-9.

As for the top 3 teams, No way is there a 3 way tie at 14-4. Someone will do better or worse but we will not have 3 teams go 14-4. Two teams, maybe. And, I hold out hope that UAB goes 14-4. 15-3 would be better but that's just not reasonably realistic because of our weak pre-conference schedule.

Our friend from the Daily Dragon has said on the board that it's 100% that Lavender won't be back, too.

It’s just a computer projection, nothing more and nothing less. It’s not to be taken literally. It will likely change by next weekend. What has been a constant is WKU’s rise in the computer rankings. They started the season at 230 according to KenPom, and now sit at 58.
