You got it backwards, we've got 16 games of frustration built up... we have to throw it everywhere!
And we still have Hue as our coach. He makes Tommy T look like Nick Saban.

Mick is a better person. If I want to win, I choose Mack. If I care about the perception of the program, I choose Mick. Unfortunately, I don't know where I am at this point because it's been so long since UC basketball has won anything of any significance. Sadly, I'm being swayed into the dark "win at all costs" side.
Does X have a perception nationally as a renegade program? I think it's basically UC fans that think that. The fact of the matter is almost all great coaches have some sort of edge or reason to dislike them.
Mack has been more successful than Mick the past 12 years, no doubt about it. Mick is still young (45), so perhaps he has some room to improve and will be fielding better teams the next 5 years. Or not.
I don't know about nationally, but I live in Indianapolis and all of the Butler fans I know absolutely hate Xavier and consider them a dirty program. This is after only spending a few seasons as conference mates. I would imagine Wisconsin fans share a similar sentiment after what happened this year.
Purdue fans think they are dirty too. Painter has said he will never play XU again unless he has to in the NC2As.
I can vouch for both of those (my brother is a Butler grad and I went to grad school at Purdue).
In 2009 (Mack's first season), Xavier lost at Butler amid a last second clock controversy. Xavier's players trashed the visiting locker room, causing $15,000 in damage. Xavier claimed it was just a cheap old water fountain that fell out of the wall when a player hit it, but my brother (who knows a lot of people who work in Butler's athletic department) tells me that the whole locker room was in shambles. After 3 days and a lot of bad press, Xavier finally announced they would pay for the damages. No players were disciplined.

[Reporter] "There's a perception of the Xavier program of coddling and looking the other way during player transgressions. In 2009 for example, it is alleged that during your first season after losing on the road at Butler some of your players trashed the visiting locker room, causing $15,000 in damage. I believe it was originally claimed by Xavier officials it was just an old water fountain that fell out of the wall when a player hit it. After 3 days passed with lingering questions from the media, Xavier finally announced they would pay for the damages. It is my understanding, however, that no players were disciplined or held accountable. What do you say to this perception and specifically to that incident?"
[Coach Mack] (Pause with silent death stare) "I'm here to comment on our upcoming game. I'm not going to get into something that happened many years ago and was handled appropriately by university officials and internally within our basketball program. We don't do things at Xavier that are below board. I can't control what others think. Next question."

RE: X Fan...I Come In Peace...Just Wanting To Pose A Question To The UC Faithful
So to summarize:
Mick Cronin: Upstanding, above board, does things right, great teacher, great mentor, great coach
Chris Mack: Slimeball, Poor Man's Pitino, plays in gray areas, anything to win, slimey
any questions?

[Reporter] "Before we get to the commotion coming from the visitor's locker room involving Macura just a few moments ago, I want to ask you about your struggles with Villanova. With tonight's loss you are now 1-9 all time against them. Why do you think you are so intimidated by Coach Wright and why does he own you like a little lap dog?"
[Press room chuckles and sneers]
[Softly Audible Voice] "Uh oh. I think I heard a toilet flush."

I thought Chris Mack did an awesome job starring as Calliban in the Logan movie.

(01-06-2018 11:54 AM)CallMeSlim Wrote: We can put some numbers in. Since Mack became HC in 2010 Xaviers final kenpom rating average has been 38. Since 2010 Uc's final kenpom average has been 35. Mack has missed the tournament twice (2012-2013, and lost the play in game in 2013-2014), Mick didn't make it in the 2010 season. So then it comes to tournament runs. Obviously xavier has had the better run there, but also far easier roads despite being the same average seed at UC in the tournament over those years.
since 2011 when uc started making the tournament again here is the breakdown.
UC average seed 7 xu average seed 7 (goes up to 8 if you count the play in loss, but since they lost the play in, they didn't get in).
UC has made the 2nd round or better 4 times. xavier has made the 2nd round or better 4 times.
in the 2nd round UC played the 10, 24, 1, and 16th ranked kenpom teams. average of 13th best team.
in the 2nd round xu has played 79, 68, 38, 26. average of 53rd best team.
Tournament runs take a lot going right for you. Hell xaviers by far best team in their history busted out in the 2nd round 2 years ago. That team was far better than their team last year that made the elite 8.
Actually more interestingly close than I expected.

Rumors that Chris Mack is talking to Louisville. If he's offered and takes the job, the tradition of slime down there will continue without interruption.

RE: X Fan...I Come In Peace...Just Wanting To Pose A Question To The UC Faithful
I figured awhile ago that Loserville's next coach was coming from the 275 beltway, be it Mick, Mack, or Brannen (who's been doing
great work with a team that I'm not sure would beat Deer Park). I kinda like Mack. Mack knows what got him here: recruiting good players and ignoring problematic behavior. he'd be successful, but I ain't sure how he holds up to the presence of FOIA requests. Mick still wants to win the press conference as well as the game and as a result, ends up doing something silly to placate Doc or Lance at the expense of his team
