And that includes us not having our top RB, our freshman kicker missing a chip shot, and a horrendous roughing the passer call that gave ISU 7 points.

i actually like the dynamic
danny white is making a folerly of the system...
mike aresco is doing what he can to make sure the powers at be aren't mad at us for it and try and punish us.

we are still trying to get a committee member
we are still trying to get bowls with these p5 teams
we are still trying to get them to allow us into autonomous voting
we are still trying to talk our way into our own access slot

you can eve see him indirectly respond to the big 12 commish.. "i heard some comments today i wont respond to them"

but he is either sick or someone did talk to him.. this is the lowest energy i have ever seen of him

Wow.

Aresco could gas small children, and it would be for the greater good of the American Conference.

As far as deliverables, what exactly has Aresco delivered on? Do you have anything concrete?

How many times do you have to post the same tired snark? Away you should go. 07-coffee3

Sorry if you are upset. I just don't understand what Aresco has accomplished to deserve such praise. Sounds like many on this thread seem to agree.

Totally agree! I’ve always backed Aresco but disagree here. Strike while the iron is hot man. Come on!

The wave of public opinion is on our side he needs to be raising hell about expanding the playoff and a guaranteed spot for the AAC to every outlet he can find!

AD White of UCF is on point! All of the ADs need to get with the program and get out there too. USF got screwed in the rankings all year. Where is their leadership!!??

Houston has a beef too after what they’ve done. Ppl need to get moving for change

Absolutely my friend—- this helps all teams outside of the Cartel. Maybe one day we can look back and see that this kind of stuff changed the playoff to include everyone in division 1 football.

Aresco is not for expanding playoff. He is for getting AAC into power 6.

Yeah...maybe Im reading too much into it--but this interview really has me concerned. It feels to me like he was massively walking back alot of his previous optimism and looking to lower expectations. Talked about the bad TV environment and that we had no chance to get a contract bowl until this deal is over. The only time he brightened up at all was when he mentioned we might be able to swing a bowl game against a decent P5 opponent when the next bowl cycle starts (around 2019--interestingly about the same time the TV negotiations will be happening).

Maybe its nothing---but as they say in original Star Wars---I have a bad feeling about this.

There is no chance of getting contract bowl until this playoff deal is done. He is exactly right.

It is possible to upgrade our top bowl when bowl renewals come up. And it is possible to upgrade $$ in our tv deal.

That's the way he would've talked if UCF had LOST. Or worse, the AAC didn't get the Access bid.
He's in a position of power. His conference is at an all time high right now. Walk into that interview with balls to your knees Aresco. I don't get it. I also of course don't get the Aresco aplogogists on here either. We've gone around in circles on that issue for years on here so I'll stop now....

This is the part that gets me. You can still pump up and be excited about your undefeated Peach Bowl Champions while saying national championship talk is over the top. But he sounds upset that he has to deal with UCF being undefeated. Something is up, not sure what, but something is definitely up.

He wants a job on the CFP just like Banowsky, once ESPN cuts the new AAC TV contract, Aresco will be hiring on to the CFP

Really I thought the AAC was going get raise even when ESPN is losing billion in revenue, millions of subscribers, and laying off hundreds of employees.

Some of you need to listen to the DIS earnings to actually understand what is going on. DIS will not allow ESPN to drag down their stock as it has been the last year and they are definitely not giving anymore money to G5 conference in this environment

Who cares about P6 and a contract bowl when the real problem is the AAC can't land a team in the playoff?

Very subdued tone to the interview by Aresco. Sounds like he got his ass chewed out before the start of it. Something is up and it doesn't smell good.

Who does UCF play next year? The only path for a G5 to get a top 5 ranking would be the Boise route. Go undefeated, beat top team in a bowl then the next season beat multiple ranked P5 teams. Beating G5 conferences teams will not move the pollsters.

Which would require "maybe expanding the playoff.." That part of the interview I didn't understand. Or maybe better stated, I don't think he knows what he wants and has a hard time keeping his story straight.

Manchurian candidate???

We are getting a raise. I do think it’s possible It won’t be as big as some think. That said—the idea that the CUSA deal is some sort of indication of what the AAC will be paid is preposterous. Speaking of tv deals—the vast majority of the CUSA tv deal expires in few months.

Wasn't it only a couple of years ago where people thought Houston could realistically make the playoff if they went undefeated and things broke a certain way with the champions of the cartel leagues?

I wonder why nobody on the Committee mentioned the obvious thing you could use against UCF this year: they played one game less than everybody else. That makes a kind of sense, as opposed to Bowlsby's "how can we let them in, they didn't even play Iowa State!" idiocy.

If he comes out and supports what UCF is doing, I think the $6 million from the peach is at risk, in addition, the AAC can be in breach of contract. I dont think Aresco wants the conference to get sued.
On the other end of the spectrum, I think Danny White is angling to get sued by the CFP. Either the conference or even better, just UCF. If that happened, expect the Florida AG to enter the game.

Because that backs them in a corner. If UCF ran the table again next year, they are forced to put them in the playoff.

Good point.

I do doubt that the CFP will bother with a lawsuit--the good ole boy network is probably content with just yelling at Aresco off the record.
