RichRod out at Arizona
Amid “hostile workplace” allegations.

Failed CMU AD Dave Heeke didn’t waste any time on this one.
Probably code for sexual harassment is my guess.
Given this and U of A’s close ties with the ongoing criminal case involving men’s basketball, it’s tough times in the desert all of a sudden...

RE: RichRod out at Arizona
This guy was handed a truly elite program on a platter and preceded to demolish it. He hired a great defensive coordinator, then had him run a dipsy doodle defense in a running league. He went west, had moderate success for a few years, and now going down in infamy. It was all about him, and it apparently still is.

The Michigan program was "elite" in name only when Rich-Rod took over. It was already a vile mess. Granted, Rich-Rod did not handle the transition well and his defense was WTF? bad. Lloyd Carr also undermined Rich-Rod - behind his back - every chance he could get (per John Bacon's book).
That said, if you combine the Rich-Rod offense today with Don Brown's defense, Michigan would likely be a playoff team.
Harbaugh's 1980's pro-set offense is not going to win any championships. Even Nick Saban has changed to more read-option/shotgun/spread formations. Dantonio is gradually getting there, too, but is too busy apologizing for rapists to go 100 percent.

Still amazed Heeke was able to land the UA job considering the way he hurt CMU.

RichRod was originally offered the Alabama job, but opted to stay at WVU. 'Bama instead went with Saban. RichRod went to Michigan the following year.
What if he had taken that Alabama job? Where would Saban have likely ended up?
Michigan.
Yes, I know it's the 'butterfly effect', but imagine how the NCAA football landscape would look had Rodriguez taken that Alabama job instead of waiting a year and going to AA.

You are assuming Saban would have accepted the Michigan job.
Per Bacon's book, the place was a already a political mess for whoever took over, let alone a former Michigan State coach with a prickly attitude.
I doubt Saban would have been interested in Ann Arbor at that time. Kinda-like when Urban Meyer blew-off ND for the Florida job. He knew he couldn't win in South Bend at that time.
