Both have good fan appeal. Both have good academic reputations. BYU on field performance will improve. Both would accept Football Only. Need to leave the MWC with some teams to knock each other off. Like 14 teams, 6 intra-division and 2 inter-division, less likely rematch for Champ game.
Army Navy have to be in the same division.
Add army to schedule some east games in an alliance and do the same for BYU to schedule west schools. Keep travel down, add quality games, more access and share bowls and tv money.
Every time I hear this ridiculous idea it makes me cringe. Anybody else that thinks a scheduling alliance with anyone other than Notre Dame or Texas makes any frickin sense call me because I have some lovely bridges for sale
Lol, byu makes roughly what we do individually. Has games in nuetral sights that sell out and schedules p6 games easily. Army pretty much already does what I suggested and makes crazy money off navy army. Both come with their own bowl tie ins. Both bring a national following and historic relevance. This isn't New Mexico st and UMass.
Side note, Texas is never going independent, they aren't Notre Dame and no one will pay them a billion for 1/3 of a state even one the size of Texas. AnM closed that door when they jumped to the sec and broke up the big Xii Texas monopoly and the lhn turned out craptastic.

I like schools that are an easy drive from Memphis.

I somewhat agree about GA St. I like the fact that they have their own stadium (refurbished Turner Field), but they need a little more time to mature. I have an eye on Georgia State though.

That might be true about the maturity of the program. But who better than the AAC to help them? If given the benefit of being in the AAC. Then GSU could quickly turn into a solid program.

I think GSU would actually be a good fit for the AAC also. Atlanta should be able to support 3 good teams. Especially considering Tech is not really a powerhouse program...
