RE: Georgia State Twitter making friends I see
I remember last year when the student ran radio station at App, WASU-FM, had student Deejays wish good things toward UNC and the MMB lost their collective mind and lashed out at the offending students. As a member of both MMB and an alumnus of WASU I was entertained by the back-and-forths on twitter.

I'm just stunned that a school would actually do this... and it gets under my skin ... and its not even my school.

And while I LOL a little at Southern fans' especially fervent "sky is falling" attitude about it, I do get why it's annoying to y'all as fellow warriors against the stranglehold UGA has on this state.

Honestly, I like the idea that schools can show support for others within the state if they're not established rivals (like Clemson FB players' cheering for Coastal in the CWS). This isn't a situation where it plays well, though (see UGA stranglehold for reference), and in general just isn't the way it works...and whoever's behind these tweets should know that.

RE: Georgia State Twitter making friends I see
What's weird is that Georgia State and Georgia compete for students. The Panthers already have a huge problem with alumni who support Georgia, and students who openly cheer for Georgia and are only at GSU because they couldn't get into Georgia. Why are they encouraging this?

While all Sun Belt Schools have an issue with alums and students who cheer for other schools first, the way you can stop that is to build your own alum base. Take advantage of the students you do have and make them a Georgia State fan instead of a Georgia fan.

The posts read like Little Brother excited Big Brother is playing for a Championship. If its like this now, I'd be scared about what it looks like during the game Monday.

It has every bit to do with the ladder as far as I'm concerned and frankly I'd hope your fans take the former approach.

With all the brand strides y'all have made within the past few years, this is a decision that is setup on a little-league batting tee for you.

My salt is coming from years of fighting the establishment and its fans... I'm sure its the same for y'all.

My hope with it at this point is that they just shut up with the tweets and that this whole thing fades from memory as the game moves into the past.

Although a nice follow-up that clarifies some sort of "All in for GSU" attitude would definitely be nice.

It's honestly nothing but this.

You either embrace it or reject it. There shouldn't be middleground.

It's like rooting for ISIS against the Australian army if you're American. It's not a good look.

RE: Georgia State Twitter making friends I see
Did Georgia State's official twitter accounts wish Georgia Tech well when they were playing Florida State in the ACC championship (when the whole country hated FSU because of the Jameis Winston sideshow) or the Orange Bowl from that year?

Did they send any support for the FCS team in their back yard (KSU) in their surprise playoff run?

My problem is pretending like this has anything to do with supporting in-state teams. It's just UGA fanboyism.

Yeah, I actually like that Pounce and Hairy Dawg pic quite a bit.

But let the mascots do what they do. This GSU twitter thing has extended beyond stupid. At the very least, feeding GaSo trolls is a poor plan.

Notice the dawgs hand is behind your mascot like he has his hand up his ass like a puppet...appropriate.

Also I have yet to see on GaSt fan on twitter to be in support or OK with it, even that ass hat Ben Moore who is about as delusional as it gets to all things GaSt is like WTF. When the spin master is not even trying to spin it for GaSt you have a problem.

Cant wait for all the other tweets for all the other college programs in the state when they are competing for championships....

Eh, not gonna stray too far for a point that doesn't matter all that much, but it's not like Alabama is our ally (as the Aussies are)...and "not a good look" is a weird description of something that's apparently in line with supporting a terror group...and ISIS are basically the new Nazis in internet analogies (by the time they're invoked, you know the metaphor's gone too far).

No disagreement that it's a stupid thing for GSU to do.

Wow, they doubled down. This is all because we have surpassed peak dawg and have entered MAX DAWG. Everyone I come in contact with is a UGA fan at the moment. I've shut down the tv and most of social media for a couple of weeks.

Hyperbole, to be sure with a tinge of sarcasm.

I will agree that it's a stupid thing for GSU to do and I'll leave it at that.

Yeah, I did get a bit nitpicky there. It’s a grumpiness-inducing week for me as a GSU and CFB fan. To top it off, I’m secondarily an Auburn fan as my wife went there (hard to shake the loyalty that started before my Panthers ever took the field), so their loss combined with the participants in the championship game...let alone the GSU Twitter idiocy...means this week looks a lot like the coming of the apocalypse.

RE: Georgia State Twitter making friends I see
I was a born-and-bred Georgia Tech fan decades before GSU had a program. And that's not going away...I know many fans of GSU who either didn't grow up with a team or jettisoned their prior fandom when GSU got a program, but that's not how I roll. And the GSU fanbase has lifelong UGA fans too. That's OK, that's just reality for a program that isn't even 10 years old.

So tweeting support for either Georgia Tech or UGA is pretty stupid. You're going to tick off a good chunk of the fanbase by supporting either. I'm actively rooting for Bama to obliterate UGA, so those tweets tick me off.

Stupid.
