Mens BBall OOC results
Since OOC play is now over I just took a look at how we did (wins/losses strictly looking at OOC performance by RPI) and here are my thoughts.

Louisiana
Best Win: Iowa 80-71
Worst Loss: Ole Miss 94-76
Overall: Having a great season so far and is the team to beat going forward.

Georgia Southern
Best Win: Missouri State 74-73 (honorable mention Wake Forest)
Worst Loss: Bradley 62-57
Overall: Lots of close wins and close losses. Dangerous team, a contender but not the favorite.

UTA
Best Win: BYU 89-75
Worst Loss: FGCU 85-78
Overall: Fairly solid OOC play, but has now stumbled into conference play early.

Georgia State
Best Win: Tulane 70-59
Worst Loss: Liberty 77-74
Overall: Mixed bag but expected a lot better. Not doing well early in conference play.

South Alabama
Best Win: New Orleans 55-52
Worst Loss: FIU 87-58
Overall: Not too spectacular but hasn't stopped them from going 2-0 in conference so who knows.

Appalachian State
Best Win: Davidson 78-62
Worst Loss: JMU 105-99 (but losing to Hampton by 33 FELT worse)
Overall: The most talented App State players in recent years but only when they play at home. Game management is an issue. Great 2-0 start to conference play. Might serve as a spoiler. My homer dark horse pick to pull the talent together in time for the tournament.

Coastal Carolina
Best Win: Iona 89-84
Worst Loss: Lamar X2 66-60 & 69-67
Overall: Nothing good but they did beat UTA.

Troy
Best Win: ETSU 73-65
Worst Loss: North Dakota 83-80
Overall: Will win a few games but not expecting much.

Little Rock
Best Win: Central Arkansas 71-65 (might be the worst "best win" and they also later lost to them)
Worst Loss: D-2 Ouachita Baptist 81-79 (definitely the worst "worst loss")
Overall: Terrible. Just terrible.

Arkansas State
Best Win: FAU 64-63
Worst Loss: Cleveland State 75-72
Overall: Nothing to see here.

ULM
Best Win: SE Louisiana 86-75
Worst Loss: Northwestern State 76-61
Overall: Ouch

TX State
Best Win: Pacific 85-78
Worst Loss: Air Force 65-57 (honorable mention Houston Baptist)
Overall: Proven ability to lose to bad teams.

Keeping up with Sunbelt football in North Carolina- pretty easy
Keeping up with Sunbelt basketball in North Carolina- not so much.

Thanks for the update.

I think you are underestimating Troy. They have played much of the OOC schedule without their best player who has now returned.

There are a handful of teams capable of winning the Belt this year. Frankly, App is not one of them. I do think Troy, Ga Southern, UTA (despite their disappointing start), and Louisiana seem the best squads at the moment. Though others (USA) have shown some life as we enter conference play. Louisiana won both of its conference games on the road so I would put them as the best after the first weekend.

Troy is good. And, with Varnado back, they'll be right there.

The Cajuns have good talent. Georgia Southern has great experience. UTA has two first all league performers. Georgia State becomes ordinary if you can neutralize Simonds.

And, keep an eye on South. I have a feeling they're getting their act together.

App is obviously better. I think Coastal can be dangerous. Arkansas State is starting to get it together with their guard play. Texas State will make the best of their talent. I think ULM and LR will struggle mightily.
