RE: Delaware
Anderson, Delaware’s # 2 scorer, is OUT tonight.

They won without him against Cornell but it’s still a bad break to lose him for the opener.

I'm not shedding any tears.

Bad break for them, potential good break for us. I'll take everything we can get right now.

Talley is back for us. That’s big.

That's more than big. The confidence he puts into his teammates is magnetizing. He just has that ability to make others better. I believe Gary will get there, but if we play ANY conference games without Talley this year we're in trouble.

Talley can make a big difference on this team. My only concern is when he gets too focused on scoring instead of moving the ball around and distributing. We need our other guards and players to provide the bulk of scoring with Talley getting assists. He's at his best when drives and can either draw the foul, score or dump it off to Cacok. Although he's become a very good 3 point shooter, i'd rather he take them less.

RE: Delaware
It will all come back to defense. We have the scoring fire power, it remains to be seen if this team can defend in the half court.

I'm not worried as much as when he goes into "scorer" mode, as I am about when he fouls too much. Fouls have been a problem for him all four years, but it's a product of having to guard guys much bigger than him.

When you get right down to it, after Cacok, Talley is one of our main scorers. If he doesn't score... we don't win. There's not enough other offensive threats on this team to put a lot of pressure on the opposing defense. I have to imagine that the game plan for every CAA team is going to be "Lock down Cacok, and lock down Talley. Make the other guys beat us."

Winning home games keeps the fans coming back and fired up to see the team play. Although the students are away still, the crowds haven't been too bad. So, not only could we start conference play 1-0, we could do it at Trask. That would likely bring everyone back for the Drexel game Tuesday. If we could somehow pull out a W there as well, 2-0 to start conference play would essentially wipe out the dismal start we had.

On another note, i'm not sure why but I have a feeling Kalina is going to come on and be a difference maker for this team. Yes, it was against a very small Greensboro team, but I liked his aggressiveness in attacking the basket including a nice move for a two handed flush. He did a good job keeping the ball up high on rebounds and going back up without dribbling or allowing smaller players to get a chance at taking the ball. I really think Joe Wolf is having an positive impact on his game. As a 7 footer, there aren't many coaches who really now how to get the most out of that size at the HS level. Wolf may be the perfect coach for him at the college level. A 7 footer with a long body and decent skills, he may be a project that pays off huge. I may be wrong, but i'm getting a good feeling about him.

Dear god I hope you are right!
