I think after our next expansion to ~21k seats, our stadium and location would be perfect for a bowl host site.

However, I don't see anyone in our conference wanting to play a bowl game in a conference foe's stadium.

I know I wouldn't want to go to a bowl game played at Georgia Southern or App. Not sure why you guys would feel any different about us.

It would have to be a bowl with no SBC tie in, which would mean no benefit to the conference. It would only benefit us (CCU) as a host site for a bowl game.

Nah, it'd definitely be with a SBC tie-in. MWC sends teams to the Potato bowl and New Mexico Bowl.

Would you have any interest in playing a bowl game in our stadium?

Think about how much worse it would be if you had already played a game at Coastal that year in the regular season.

Part of the fun of bowls is playing in a new atmosphere.

Only way it would be worth it is if it had a P5 tie in with like a 6 win ACC or SEC team but I don't see that happening.

The Dollar General Bowl is played in South Alabama's stadium, isn't it?

Dollars General Bowl wants nothing to do with SoBama either. By having a bowl in your home stadium you effectively have eliminated yourself for consideration from one bowl. Unless you’re selling out every regular season game.

I was initially going to disagree with you, but one thing that supports your opinion is that Coastal's stadium is still 20-25 minutes from Ocean Boulevard, whereas Citadel's stadium is on the peninsula.

El Cid has a seating problem now though.

Atlanta needs to host a game especially when you consider the most recent members App State, GS, CCU in close proximity. In addition, it would also increase exposure for schools like Ga State. Please make the game in the dome as well. No fans want to spend their holiday vacation on a cold field. I love regular season games out in the elements, but during the bowl season and late December these games should be played in warm weather conditions for the traveling fans.

I disagree, Atlanta has too many distractions for a SBC bowl to be successful. Our bowl destinations are all fine but if one gets moved I think the expanded CCU stadium and Myrtle Beach would be the best spot to move it to.

Same argument could be said for New Orleans

I don't know, in some ways, I think it would be better to have a packed small stadium vs. a 30,000 capacity stadium with only 8000 fans in it.

They only can seat 11,500 in El Cid's stadium now. That's unacceptable for a bowl.

Then this means you're advocating for Coastal to host. Our stadium will hold ~21k people after this year's expansion.

Based on the bowl attendance numbers coming in, we could host 2 of the 4 bowl crowds that showed up, but even those would make our stadium "packed". Our two smallest attended bowls so far were 19k and 20k.

And you know as well as I do with how well App and GS travel. If you put a bowl closer to them in Conway, SC, the attendance will reach even higher numbers.

I believe most SBC East teams would pack Coastal's stadium for a bowl IF it's a great opponent.

What was the attendance numbers for all 4 of SBC bowl games?

At least these numbers would help us understand the criteria moving forward of any future sites

Ranges from about 19k to upper 20k's.

Based on the 4 bowls played so far, Coastal theoretically could have held two of the four crowds with our new expansion complete to 21k.
