App should’ve played Troy in Mobile or NOLA

I feel if Brown and Sat stay, there are going to be some epic battles for the East in the next few years. Just hope it's not the last game of the season so we don't beat each other up before the championship game. Would totally pull for Troy in the Championship game if it isn't us.

Here's a trivia question....besides the Alabama-LSU rematch in the national championship game a few years back has there ever been a situation where conference foes matched up in a bowl?

It would certainly have to be strange extenuating circumstances to cause that. Don't think I've ever heard of it.

Nevada played Colorado State in the Arizona Bowl a few years back. That was a weird year in which there were few bowl eligible teams, and more slots. A few 5-7 teams made bowls and Arizona Bowl didn't have a TV partner then. Led to a situation where no one wanted that game, and they had to just take who was left, which happened to be 2 MWC teams.

Oklahoma-Nebraska in the January 1979 Orange Bowl.

In 1960 Mississippi beat LSU 21-0 in the Sugar bowl after losing to LSU in the regular season.

IN 1964 Alabama beat Mississippi in the Sugar Bowl.

Very nice, App. Between this and Troy's season, you guys pretty much salvaged any shred of credibility that the conference had left after a dreadful regular season OOC showing.

I hope that my program can start adding this kind of value to the conference in the very near future.

Until then, thank you for carrying the torch for all of us. These are the kind of dominating performances (especially over G5 conference champs) that make the sun belt look very strong.

I was a supporter of admitting both App St. and Georgia Southern to the Sun Belt for several years before it happened.

I argued for it on this board and the stAte board.

I'm happy to share a conference with them.

I'll admit, before doing any real research and only knowing their reputation, I wanted CUSA but seeing what they've become and what the Sunbelt has become I'm happy we're here. Karl Benson has made some really smart moves while the CUSA commissioner has made some really bad ones.

It's been a ton of fun since joining the league. So many of us wanted to move up for so long, and the team has rewarded us with 4 great years. I'm looking forward to many more!
