The AD up here (Toledo) is abuzz right now, because they just had a 4-star QB send in his LOI over offers from Wisconsin, West Virginia, Pitt, Louisville, Ole Miss, and Washington. Jason Candle was all over him for the last month of the season...he'll probably be a day one starter up here.

Toledo was a school I mentioned to a friend in the recruiting business on Monday...I said I expected them to land a bigger name. Not saying its the case but any kid that is not allowed to send in a LOI today to a bigger named school due to not being cleared yet by the clearinghouse will get offered from schools that can show love and can gamble (or take non-qualifiers). Wonder if that is what is happening.

Marshall is another school I'd keep an eye on.

This kid is a definite qualifier...but I think you're right on with your assessment of post signing day action. There's a reason why all of the little guys love this legislation, they can scoop up all of the solid 3*s now and not have to worry about them leaving on the eve of NSD and can then REALLY hit some potential qualifier issues hard. Toledo has made their bones on guys right on the line for years (Kareem Hunt qualified on the last ACT he could take, their best CB of the last 8 years, Chris Dukes, was a similar situation, Michael Roberts was a late take that worked out and now plays for the Lions, and some of you guys will probably remember the name Jon'vea Johnson from a few years back...and keep an eye out for the name Bryce Mitchell...he was in a similar boat, but he's a 6'4" 200lbs WR who was second in the D1 meet in both the high jump and 100m dash...he'll be a stud in two years). This will benefit a vast majority of schools, but the big boys won't be able to do what they have in the past, such as focusing on their top 10-15 targets all years then mopping up with decent guys committed to other schools...I personally think this will do more for parity in college football than anything in the last 20 years.

He has shown already that he could do so.

Yep. Hope they land him. Him and Bush are by far the two most underrated recruits in this class IMO.

Hopefully Harris signs today as well. Is that the expectation?

I agree...looking up and down the depth chart, and watching his tape, I just don't see a way that Bush isn't at least our #1 Nickel by September, and may end up in on the field side by the end of the year. We are ALL freshmen in the CB ranks right now, and Marquese Taylor looked good in limited action, but all others may as well be freshmen again this year, as none had any field work, two were injured, and two were PSQ guys.

As far as Harris, I don't think it's an expectation, but it's a definite possibility. Think about how Bryant must be feeling right now...he signs on with a 6'7 TE with 4.6 speed, a 6'4" WR who is a state finalist high jumper, and a 6'2" WR who skirts up against the 4.4 line. I mean...that's a hell of a target list for four years haha.

TJ Johnson, the Penn State transfer, will be eligible this fall. He will likely be in the rotation at corner as well since he was in the two deep in Happy Valley as a Sophomore.

I forgot about Johnson.

This freshman class could make an immediate impact. Bush, Vann, Whyle and Harris (if he opts for UC) and a couple others will be guys who can plug in and provide immediate upgrades which is rare for 18 year olds. Manac obviously as a JUCO.

Harris reminds me of this this year's version of Danny Davis who is going to be a star at WI. Harris has great hands, size and speed and runs effortlessly. He's the kind of WR UC just didn't have last year.

They have a combined 12 SNAPS at QB coming back next year. Part of why I was surprised Candle stayed and part of why I think that kid will be a Day One starter.

Ho-lee crap.

Exactly why I think I saw two coaches streaking through the north quad and into the gymnasium this morning lol

i imagine we need to see what the depth chart looks like before making any judgments. Weren't there rumors about QB departures during the season? in any case, i'm not at all concerned if they do start Bryant over Moore. i realize physically he'll be behind Moore, but by enrolling early he'll get a jump start on weight training. By the time spring ball rolls around he'll have at least a handful of months in the weight room. Come late summer i think he can look the part.

There are indeed rumors that our #2 and #3 QBs might transfer. That still leaves D. Ridder. He's been running scout team offense this season, and reportedly doing it relatively well. I don't see Bryant stepping in and starting over both him, and Moore.

Time will tell.

NICE! That's very big, he's an incredibly versatile kid...kind of a diet-Torrance Gibson if you will. He has a decent arm...

Just arrived at Fairfield HS and there is a lot of buzz that 5* OL Jackson Carman could surprise at 11 AM.

No chance. I'm thinking the "surprise" would be USC instead of OSU. They were his last OV, but before then were considered well behind Clemson and OSU.

I don't think anyone here is saying he's a sure fire start, but I'm guessing with our QB situation that the staff will open it up a bit more than most staffs would when they have a returning senior 3 year starter at QB.

UCF started a low 3 star true frosh last year and he led them to a 13-0 season this year. Not to mention Fromme at GA....true freshman starters replaced guys at Florida State, Maryland, Texas and Texas A&M.

If Moore is clearly the best QB in camp in a year that we are likely going to struggle a bit again due to remaining gaps in the depth chart, then fine. Otherwise, I make decisions based on who will be here in 2019 and beyond when it is time to make hay.

I've heard Clemson but that would not be a surprise with what they have going for them down there.
