RE: 2017 Football Early Signing Day Thread
I went through Whitmer's Tweets and there was a number which the Tweet was 'unavailable'.

According to my little chart on the other recruiting thread, he verballed to us, Dec. 7.

It does appear that he Tweeted his verbal to us and then deleted it. Those who re-tweeted it now have a re-tweet for a tweet since deleted.

He is a mid-year JUCO transfer.

6. Charles Gadie, ATH/CB/WR Douglasville, GA (08/01).

14. Jacob Whitmer, TE, Chaffey College, CA (12/7) *

Don't know if this really means we are done for this 72 hour period?

Certainly have the opportunity to sign more in Feb assuming scholarships are available.

Giordano seems solid: https://twitter.com/Logan_giordano?ref_s...r%5Eauthor

Yeah, there sometimes might be reason for not signing immediately, but he does seem solid.

I'm really worried about Whitmer. Don't know if he is supposed to be a December grad or what and if so, he should be signing NOW.

Might have flipped to Louisville...
He can compete with kilby

Don't see it, but Kilby did sign with Louisville.

Based on what I've found (or haven't found), Whitmer hasn't signed with anyone.

03-lmfao Yeah, 2 flip floppers.

Odukoya and a healthy Kemp will be a big improvement from last year, either way.

E'Tough:

Based on what is known today, what holes (beside QB, special teams) do we have left on the team?

Remember we have preferred walk on as kicking/punting competition

WR still a question mark I guess. Will this Juco kid be able to step in right away? Will Dieuly finally fulfill his potential? Are some of the young guys from the last 2 classes ready to step in?

Like a poster (or two) noted, may not have to worry too much about WR. He had some. We redshirted some. Signed one JUCO (I like his highlights).

Guess I'm most concerned about QB and kicking. Otherwise, not many holes.

Agree. The bottom line is that the mid-year JUCOs and December H.S. graduates will be 'closed' after Friday. Anyone not signed by Friday won't start school on scholarship until Summer.

As '79 indicates, we still have scholarships and may pick up say a couple and can give them out in February for the 2018/9 academic year.

Might be a good time to hold one to 1 or 2 to see if a possible B1G caliber recruit falls.

As far as Grissom, Mackay, etc. they can be given scholarships in February IF they are only for 2018. IF the scholarship is for 2nd semester, they have to be 2017 carryover scholarships.

The BIG question and no one has raised it, is where is EMU going to get 8 or 9 2017 scholarships to give incoming January student-athletes???? I'd guess we have some in the bank from players who did not play this year (e.g., Jones, Grissom, Mackey, etc.) plus others who may have a 2017 scholarship but left the squad after 2016 season.

Remember, scholarships given out in February are for the following academic year.

Will some start school on their own $ until summer when they go on scholarship???

Giordano will apparently join as a "blueshirt." Which is why he didn't sign an NLI, but tweeted about coimg EMU.

So essentially, because Giordano didn't take an official or issued a letter of intent, he can join as a walk-on and earn a scholarship *after* the first day of fall camp. He will count towards the 2019 class.

Vinnie Patreri, the kicker from Saline, will indeed be joining as a PWO. Sadie says he wants to sign in Feb., which I take to mean another school could still lure him away. No public comment from Whitmer, so yeah, he's probably heading to Louisville or somewhere else.

Would be kinda funny if Whitmer went to Louisville, because him & Kilby cancel each other out. Exact same skillset, neither blocks much, no way they'd be on field together. Only 1 can win the job, the other going to be very disappointed they're not at EMU.

If only some of these 18-20 year olds could have the brain of a mature adult, they might see things like this and make wiser choices, unfortunately many choose the limelight and learn the hard way. Best of luck to him whatever he decides.

I wonder if EMU has a real numbers problems for MID-year eligibles?

Did CC have to make a decision among the possible mid-year JUCOs???

Are some of the FROSH (mid-year) recruits GREEN shirts whom I believe pay their own way for spring semester and then go on scholarship for 2018/9 school year?

All I know is that CC said we have 8 or 9 who could enter in January. Do we have 8 or 9 unused 2017 scholarships to give them for SPRING semester???

Whitmer just unpinned his EMU official visit pics on Twitter.
