Bowl Predictions (SIAP)
EDIT - Sorry, I thought we had one but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Troy versus North Texas: Troy's defense is better than any they faced in CUSA. I don't think Troy will roll them like some think, but I do think they win.
31-21 Troy

Ark State versus Middle Tennessee: Top SBC team against a 6-6 CUSA, gotta win this one. MTSU is stout against the run but I think Ark State has the passing game to win this one.
34-20 Red Wolves

Western Kentucky versus Georgia State: I think State has a decent chance in this one if they get a couple of turnovers and capitalize, but I think it'll be a low-scoring one.
20-10 WKU

App versus Toledo: I think App really finished stronger in their last 3 games than they were given credit for. They beat us 27-6 and we weren't great but were better than we were early season. They also beat Georgia State and UL-L convincingly. On the other hand, Toledo's really good on offense but unremarkable on defense. I think the App defense will get a turnover or two and make the difference in this game
App 34-27

New Mexico State versus Utah State: First bowl for the program in quite a long time, NMSU will put up a fight and keep it closer than some expect but IMO it won't be quite enough.
33-30 Utah State

Those predictions and analysis look pretty good to me. Want to change the perception of the Belt...keep winning bowl games.

Vietnam wasn't even started, and we hadn't landed on the moon yet? Is that right?

I'm not saying Troy will lose, but we have 4 key players out including our leading receiver and a cornerback that happens to be the NCAA active career leader in interceptions. North Texas is probably better than you think. We'll have to play our asses off to win Saturday.

With Stockstill back I am not sure MTSU will play like a 6-6 team.

Something about his collarbone. He missed several games. MUTS won 3 of their last 4 games to get bowl eligible. I am not sure if that was after he got back.

Those predictions and analysis look pretty good to me. Want to change the perception of the Belt...keep winning bowl games.
The perception of the Belt and all the rest of the G5 conferences is much more affected by wins over P5 schools. Especially the wins over marquee programs. App's win over Michigan still boosts the perception of Mountaineer football and the Sun Belt a lot more than a win over another G5 conference team in a bowl game ever will.

Three years ago we beat a very bad 6-6 Illinois team in the HOD Bowl. We received a lot more positive press for that win than we got from our win over Ark St the next year in New Orleans Bowl. Trust me, I attended both games and the Ark St team we played was MUCH better than the Illinois team we beat, but the fact that Illinois is a member of the Big 10 was just too much for sports media to ignore.

USM faces a bad 6-6 Florida State team in the I-Bowl in Shreveport in a week or so. That's the ONE game that has a chance to move the needle for the perception of CUSA this bowl season.

I think that is exactly when he got back. He's their difference maker like Hansen is for us.

RE: Bowl Predictions (SIAP)
I'm gonna put my predictions out here. I really think our conference is down overall this year so these are gonna be more pessimistic than most everyone else.

Troy vs North Texas - I think Troy has the defense to slow down NT but this one will be closer than predicted. 33-30 Troy

WKU vs Georgia State - 23-16 WKU

MTSU vs Ark St - How many mistakes Hansen makes will determine this game. I predict this to be an OT game and a toss-up 41-38 Ark St.

App St vs Toledo - App does not seem to be their usual self this year. I really hope I'm wrong but 31-23 Toledo

NMSU vs Utah St - 37-24 Utah St

Our conference needs a sweep or at least 4-1 but we could easily be 1-4....

RE: Bowl Predictions (SIAP)
Troy vs North Texas - Troy starts the day right for the SBC. Troy wins 31-20

Georgia State vs WKU - Coach Elliot gets em ready and GSU wins 23-20.

stAte vs MTSU - stAte doesn't turn the ball over in this one and wins 41- 24.

App St vs Toledo - Closest game for the belt , App pulls it out with a last second FG 31-30.

NMSU vs Utah St - NM State playing with house money, wins 28-20 for a Sun Belt sweep!

5-0 Sun Belt!!!

Middle Tenn.
WKU
Apps
Utah St

My head says Troy, but my heart and my money currently go to Denton, so I'll take the Eagles in a squeaker . . .

Let's go SBC!

Troy and stAte win convincingly.
Ga St loses to WKU
Toledo gets revenge in close game over App
NMSU wins close game against USU

Belt ends up 3-2,

CUSA and MAC have very bad showings. Hopefully we will vault them in the payout.

On Capital One Bowl Mania I only picked one game wrong the first day. I had Colorado State beating Marshall.
