I hinted at this last week. Former App DC Nate Woody just offered Ja'Quon Griffin at GA Tech.

Blue shirt players can sign on Signing Day ... just means they can't come on an official visit so they can count forward a class.
It's a little more detailed than that. The blueshirt rule pertains to "unrecruited" athletes. As in a player that was not provided an official visit to the campus; Did not have in-person, off-campus contact with a coach; or was sent an NLI or other written scholarship offer. You better hope the coach watched the him play or is outstanding evaluating off film. Of course they could always just offer based on the number of stars. You can't go wrong doing that.

Blueshirts are not "unrecruited athletes" We've had a couple kids on visits this weekend that are going to blueshirt. They can take unofficial visits and be recruited like any other athlete. They just cannot have a written scholarship offer, and cannot take an official visit.
On edit: NCAA rules regarding recruiting are strange. Essentially, a player is not recruited unless they have arranged off campus or on campus contact with a coach, or receive a written scholarship offer. Coaches can text, call a player all they want, and "invite" them to take unofficial visits in which they receive the same treatment as any other visiting athlete, they just pay their own way. So I guess in a sense they are "unrecruited" but they really are recruited.
Also, there's a faulty SBNation article out there that indicates blue shirts cannot play year 1. They most certainly can play year 1.

UL coaches getting no sleep lol, nice one!
They are closing pretty good. Got another commit from CB Jeremiah Gardner his film looks great but his 247 profile is not up to date.
We are still in the hunt for a few very, very talented OL and DL prospects. I’m hoping for some signing day surprises. I think we are down to only having 4 more slots to fill. Mainly due to grad transfers and blue shirts.

Sort of. The reality is that most schools recruit blueshirts no different than they do any other athlete. Coaches can still scout them in person and talk to them all they want. The only thing they can't do is make an in home visit, or pay the prospect to visit campus.
The thing is, if at any point a school has a surprise spot come open in the February signing class, they can simply turn and offer that planned blue shirt a scholarship, knowing they'll get them to sign easy.
The only real risk is that by blue shirting, you are essentially asking the kid to wait before signing with you, so if another school cam open with a February spot, they could grab them. You made it seem like there was a major risk with blue shirts, when the risk is really minimal, outside of messing up the next signing class.

The incompetence by Tyson Summers just becomes even more and more evident.
After we get our next commit which is a 3 star RB, that will put us at number 3 in the conference. Not bad given the past 2 years.
Remember stars dont matter lol...but CCL seems to care as he touts the stars rankings so do the other coaches. He has killed it though he did more in a month that Tyson did in a year and half. If we can make and win a bowl next year or better the 2019 class should be crazy with a full year for him and his staff to establish relationships. We only have one recruit with all three rankings so far so expect some movement hopefully all up but some could drop.
HC Lunsford is destroying it on limited time!!! On top of that he's rebuilding all those connections from former Georgia Southern alum who NOW are high school HC. The assistants know how to use social media to their advantage as well! Lots of excitement, energy, and enthusiasm RETURNING to this program after Tyson Summers crap show. DE who committed last night was a great find!

Lawd CL is killing it. Looks like our 24/7 board got cleaned up only showing 16 guys now I am assuming mostly old Tyson commits. More room for three stars I guess.
I guess the RB has character issues lol since he just visited a P5 and is going to likely commit to us lol.
yeah, just saw where we went from 20 to 16 commits. Our score dropped, but our average rating is right at 80.
If we can pick up 4 or 5 more 3 star guys, this will be an even more impressive class given the circumstances.

I would anticipate a couple more, but 4-5 is a stretch. Lunsford told me they expected to sign 18-20. But that was a month ago, so maybe things have changed.

Cunningham is coming off of a knee injury and a lot of the P5s who offered him have signed other RBs since he went down.

247 is doing a pretty good job for the Cajuns since we don’t have a presence on any recruiting site any longer. They do have two commits listed who are actually PWO and not scholarship players.

Especially if they are on the same level as all the other Lunsford recruits. We go to having almost no seniors last year to a ton this year. We will likely sign over 25 next year for sure. Good timing hopefully with a new staff and things having to be better than last year.

This is 100% correct.
As long as South's WR's do their job correctly, and whoever is QB can become good at the quick release, the USA offense could become good very quickly.
Edenfield's offense is going to be based on pre-determined routes, screens, and pre-snap audibles based on what the defense sets up in. The QB mostly does half-field reads.
Don't be surprised if USA has a Top 40 offense despite the O-Line issues.

App and GS probably out of the mix with Birdsong with Iowa State jumping late as well. Need to hit that next level to stop losing recruits to lower level P5's way out of region.
