We pay you to freaking win games! Who cares how the team competed.

If Mick was a plumber and you called him to your house to fix the water heater, he would say hot water is for lay people, what's more important is how well these solder joints look. I used Teflon tape on this connection, look! Hot water is just for family and friends.

"Winning makes you soft."

Well I agree - when you win against cupcakes.

"I don't look at winning and losing. I look at the way we are playing."

He is actually saying these things.

I guess we are "lay" people. We just don't understand the complexities of basketball, such as how playing hard is more important than winning or losing.

"Lay people... all they know is whether you won or lost."

Well, yeah. I don't disagree with that assessment, but I don't think those "lay people" are wrong in judging a team by its wins and losses.

"Winning makes you soft. Winning makes you arrogant. Winning makes your players content."

Good thing we lost, then. College basketball is a game of 4D chess here, fellas.

"But I don't look at winning and losing as much as, you know, that... that's not what I look at."

I just... wow.

And we wonder why is his recruiting sucks! I sure as hell hope he is not spewing this mediocre garbage to kids in their families living rooms.

RE: Florida game thread
Relax, its only December. Team has a long way to go. Good thing the next game is at home ( or least the place they call home this year). I think the bigger has been the combination of a soft early schedule with week long breaks in between. Once they starting playing twice a week and the coaching staff figures out who to go with when it really matters they will be ok. Even if they don't figure things out they still will win enough games to make the tournament with a chance to make it past the first weekend. Mick's only Sweet 16 team was horrible until mid-December as well.

I went back and looked at Huggins last Sweet 16 team at UC. Ugly results until late January, I am talking a blowout loss to Notre Dame, home loss to Xavier, and road loss to Toledo in the non-conference. 3-3 conference start included a 47-44 loss to Marquette. That team actually had loads of talent that figured things out and built to a one seed the following year.

Right now this team needs to figure out who the point guard going forward is going to be and who the heck is the go to players at the end of the game. I would still go with Jacob Evans, the ref missed the call more than the playing blowing the play.

Yes, verbatim. Those quotes are at 1:54, 2:07, and 2:45.

I think UC will be good enough again to make the tournament, but unless a miracle occurs and Cronin figures out that scoring points and running an offense are equally important as defense and playing hard UC will never get any further than just making the tournament.

Really? Broom has been wit the team for over a year, and Mick can't figure it out? The other 6 key players logged major minutes last year, and Mick can't figure it out? I could give a crap about some historical reference to some other team. I choose to deal with the here and now. Mick constantly says the wrong thing at the wrong time and consistently shows he has no clue about his own team.

UC will be fine against middlin teams.

The guards on this team are not good enough. Broome can’t defend or pass and Cumberland and Evans are too slow. Other teams have seen the tape.

Troy and Johnson are sorely missed.

Disagree. Broome can create for himself and others. Jennifer is not a threat to do either. Broome defends just fine, comparatively. I would rather have him out there with his attacking mentality than any else.. Evans and Cumberland need to keep attacking the rim. Slow? LMAO. In what? The slow down half court look for Mick Offense? Give me a break.

I don’t get all the Cane hate on here

he goes 6-8 while Jenifer in 23 minutes has
0 points and only 1 assist

He can’t defend or pass. I never said anything about clearing out and letting him go to the rim. He does that well. He’s an open gym guy.

The guards on this team are a liability against good squads.

RE: Florida game thread
Broome is this year’s Farad Cobb...maybe not as good as an outside shooter as Cobb but better to the rim.

Same diminutive size. Same handle. Same passing ability. Same lack of ability to defend. Honestly, probably played with about the same level of talent at their last stop.

Replace Troy with Farad Cobb and tell me the results are surprising to anyone. Seriously. This should shock...not a soul. This is going to be a 8/9 seed year if we are lucky.

He can't pass? He is second on the team in assists behind Evans. Not to mention the fact that he plays fast and the rest seem to not react as fast to his passes. No clue what team you have been watching. Shocking.
