Interesting Fact From 2000 GMAC Bowl (and not Just for USM Fans Livin' in the Past!)
USM defeated #13 TCU and Heisman hopeful LaDainian Thompson 28-21 on a blustery, cold December night.

The Fact: Both TCU AND USM had 10 (Count'em...Ten!) future NFL Draft Picks! Very interesting....and shows the depth of competition back then.

TCU went on to better things (well, #7 TCU did lose to USM again, but I regress), while Mississippi Southern disappeared! 03-lmfao04-cheers

2001 GMAC bowl was a dandy, too. Gerard vs Leftwich in one of the greatest comeback stories of all time. 2 drafted QBs.

It's the difference when bowls were in short supply and only great teams got in. In the MAC in those years you had to at least win your division to get a bowl at all. 2001 was the first year the MAC had 2 bowls. Before that you had to win the whole damn thing to get a bowl, in Detroit, in winter.

Yeah...I understand....but I remember (yep, USM fans have Looooong memories!04-cheers) when 9-2 USM teams sweated out a bowl.....and while 7-5 and 6-6 teams probably don't deserve a post-season reward such as a bowl, a 6-6 FSU is the only way a 8-4 USM plays them!

LaDanian Thompson was seen at a crack house dressed up like a goat trying to score.

It’s Thomlinson, I believe. Only played in the league about ten years.

Best mobile bowl was the year Marshall played Louisville. The world wide leader broke the story during the 1st qtr that John L smith was leaving louisville for michigan state. the cards sideline looked like a balloon had been deflated.

Yes the Sm TCU game was one of the coldest ive ever attended. I went to pee and had to back up.
