Football Coaching Staff Changes?
Has anyone heard anything about any changes to our coaching staff? I'm not suggesting their should be, but from year-to-year its incredibly rare for an entire staff to remain consistent. Someone usually gets poached by a friend who gets a new job.

RE: Football Coaching Staff Changes?
It certainly could happen but so many of the people on the staff came from really good situations to come here that it would seem odd for them to turn around in one year try to get right back out. Two guys I’d be the most concerned about would be Joker Phillips who was just happy to get back into on field coaching after being in a support role at Ohio State and Al Washington. I could see somebody taking a shot at those guys as up and comers with how well they recruit.

Well, we know Doug Rosfeld has left as "Director of Player Development" to become HC at Moeller. So that's one opening so far.

The Assistants move around mostly once the season is all over, as coordinators move up and new staffs are formed and shuffling takes place. So things could get more fluid over the next few weeks.

Not sure if he gets the job, but saw that Marcus Freeman was a finalist for the Kent State HC job. Freeman was an assistant there a few years back.

I'm with Rath...due to their recruiting chops and the gains we saw on one position group (DL), I would be gutted if we lost Al Washington or Joker Phillips. Hell, if Freeman moves on, one wonders if Washington gets the DC call up.

From what I saw out of the defense, scheme wise, this year... I'm not sure if I'm upset if that happens.

I thought the schemes weren't bad, but any team that could throw the ball downfield at all killed us because of how bad the secondary was. Honestly, throwing out the Navy game the Defense was really good all year against any team that didn't have a QB that was accurate down the field. I think a fairly strong defensive line helped that, but I also think the staff did a good job scheming to take away easy stuff. To me, UC's clear issue on defense was a lack of players in the secondary and depth with the linebackers.

Perhaps the new "Stupid Penalties Coordinator" could double as the "Don't kick it out of bounds" placekicking coach.

I don't know much about Freeman, but if you're an aspiring coach I'm not sure it would be a good move to go to Kent State. It'd be better to stick around here and build your resume and end up as a HC in the upper ranks of the G5.

If Freeman were to split, I wonder if Washington would have any ability to coordinate for UC (it'd be better than coordinating at KSU).

How about untimed down coordinator? I think we had one on offense and one on defense this year and both resulted in opponent's TDs.

DB coach Willie Martinez is going to UCF

Cant wait to play them now next year! Should put up 400 yards passing easily :)

Wonder if we try to go after Blue Adams or Mike Mickens...would love to see either of them back here. I hope that doesn't affect the commitments of Hicks, Bush, or Ward.

Blue was from Miami originally. He coached for the Dolphins for 3-4 years. I have a feeling he likes being in Florida.

Maybe Mickens would wanna leave 2-10 BGSU. Looked at their stats. They gave up a helluva lot on the ground, but did alright defending the pass.

Is he going in the same capacity - DB coach?
