First the Cherry Bowl, now the Tart Cherry Bowl. Going after the gout market segment.

As I said before , it's bs that these kids didn't get a better opponent and to travel for their bowl game after dominating conference usa
That said , hope they kill Akron to prove a point and then dominate again next season within the conference and have this problem fixed

Yes, they should have had a much tougher opponent, a much more brand name opponent than the Zips.
However, the fact they are playing home does not bother me, at all. Conference is clearly trying to make it an official premier bowl. And the guys had been to Buffalo, Madison (Wis), Ruston, Charlotte, etc. They have another chance to play in front of their home fans and ingrain themselves into the local Boca culture.
And, yes, they will have a chance to kill Akron who are Buffalo's conference-mates, so we can clearly state that the loss at Buffalo in the early part of the season was an aberration.

Football Scoop is tweeting that FAU and Lane Kiffin are negotiating a very long term deal as we speak.

Fingers crossed! Dr. Kelly said he's working on a long-term contract with Lane right now.

premiere bowl for whom? fau attendance has been terrible all year, even the conference championship game...why would the bowl want fau there?
fyi, i hope they destroy the shiat out of akron and ya'll have a shitton of fau fans there, but that has not been the case all year at your home stadium

For CUSA. We've sent our conference champion to Boca Raton 3 out of the 4 times this bowl has been played.
2014: CUSA conference champion vs. MAC conference champion
2015: MAC West division co-champion vs. AAC East division champion
2016: CUSA conference champion vs. AAC 8-5 team
2017: CUSA conference champion vs. MAC East division champion
Hopefully, this bowl could become CUSA's premier bowl, but we'd need a better (and more permanent) tie-in with another conference.
And Florida Atlantic's attendance has always been low. This isn't going to change over night. But we did see a significant increase this season (as did North Texas - and UAB killed it this year - plus Old Dominion always sells out their smaller stadium). At least we're headed in the right direction.
Also, North Texas didn't travel well to either the CUSA championship game or their bowl game - it was the (significantly) lowest-attended New Orleans Bowl since 2005 (and Florida Atlantic won that bowl in 2007). Everyone in CUSA has attendance issues. I think the better we become as a conference, the attendance will follow.

Me too. Hopefully since it's not during finals week this go-around, more students will attend. And I've heard a lot of alumni from out-of-state are flying in for the game as well.

you guys deserved at least an upper G5 opponent, why they didn't give you Toledo is beyond me.
Do this conference proud and show them the mistake in making the trip to Boca.

Best of Luck, FAU !!
Ride that #LaneTrain
It would be bad for other conference coaches if he stays in Boca for a while, but methinks it would be great for the conference. It might help get some of us others off of our arses.
