Seth Litrell would be a good canidate but SMU snobby and SBC/CUSA beneath them. P5 Coordinator IMO.

They might go for like a Kiffin because of his ties to a P5 school, but I doubt they spend much time looking for an existing head coach. Private School or not, there's nothing out there to suggest SMU will spend the big bucks needed to bring in a sitting head coach.
However, if they wanted Blake Anderson, I doubt many of our fans would stand in their way.

They paid for June Jones in the past and the spent big to get Morris too. They are deep donor pockets.

That's me. And I'm totally sincere in everything I said about him being a great coach. I'd rather be selling Anderson to see if we could upgrade but if it was my money I'd be coming after Brown. I think he's that good.

We’d rather keep him, but his buy out is right at 3million so if they do they better show us the money

Players ALWAYS want the in-house interim.

RE: Who's going to SMU?
SMU football has fallen ... basketball has taken over as the most popular sport. I live a couple blocks down the street from the stadium and their game days are nothing like I would expect for a big-time football program with such a rich history. The stadium is almost always half empty, the traffic is always reasonable, they've been unable to attract casual fans unaffiliated with the school, and many of the fans they do have always exit the stadium early to drink and hook-up (I've seen more SMU students publicly make out than squirrels in the streets)
Whoever takes over will have their work cut out for them. The program is in desperate need of revival, respect, and relevancy.

Honestly, if they reach down instead of up, I see them talking to Anderson out of the Sunbelt. He fits.

RE: Who's going to SMU?
I haven't seen chatter about Neal Brown at all. He's apparently happy at Troy and staying for now, according to the scoop we've gotten about a meeting that took place with his staff.
If you're Neal Brown, why would you want to take an SMU or UCF job where you are going to have to rebuild some components, change the offensive philosophy, recruit players that will fit in your schemes, and lose some of the quality coaches that probably won't go with Neal Brown.
DC Vic Koenning stated in his first season that his family finally wants to settle down somewhere instead of moving all over the country and that he wanted to stay at Troy for as long as possible... so he's happy in Troy... especially since he's the highest paid person assistant coach in the Sun Belt... can't beat that. Plus he received a $20,000 raise in 2017 according to USA Today. Then you have other assistants like Matt Moore, who has been everywhere with Neal Brown and Tony Franklin in the same position. He's probably going to stay at Troy and wait for his chance to be a head coach, which will happen sooner than later.
It's my opinion that if Neal Brown leaves, Matt Moore is on the short list to be head coach. He's currently co-OC.
There's a lot of moving parts with Neal Brown leaving Troy.

Exactly what rebuilding is needed at UCF?

I think he is the best name I’ve seen on any list.
I think SMU is a hard sell for a lot of coaches.

RE: Who's going to SMU?
Probably former Sunbelter Willie Fritz, innovative offense, Texas experience. Question is if SMU can/will outbid Tulane to pry him loose.
