It's an underwhelming hire, but I do hope it works out. Hopefully he's learned a lot since he coached at the University of Houston. I've heard he can recruit.

We (UTEP fans) were very disappointed in this hire because the Internet and sports talk hosts had us ready to hire Keeler or some other high octane offensive guru. Dimel's name never came up once. But after sleeping on it and then watching his introductory presser and watching a bunch of K State video, I'm ok with it. Still will have a wait and see approach because he has to get some talented transfers in order to make any headway in his first season. He mentioned that his first year's recruiting class will likely have 4 or 5 JC's and that would likely be skill positions. He did say he has watched a lot of film already, including high school film on the 2 youngest QB's. He said he likes UTEP's RB's and overall talent on defense. He is already doing his homework and has lots of Texas recruiting ties. It should at least work out a lot better than our previous coach who was a position (OL) coach and never even a coordinator.
