It is truly amazing how badly Big O has screwed the pooch this time around.

You know that's not true and yet you keep repeating it. You really think Morris was Arkansas' first choice?

First of all, if I KNEW it wasn't true, I would NOT keep repeating it. You might know what's up with Morris, but you have no clue about what happened with Norvell, so chill.

UTk inquired about Norvell in the first batch of coaches. I didn't say he was first or tenth, only that they inquired and he said no. UTk was all over the place in the beginning.

Same thing happened at Arky, in a way. There were 3 split factions. All wanted Malzahn, and they rode that pony until it died.

Then, one faction wanted Morris, and one wanted Norvell. The third faction, I have no clue what they wanted. But Jerry Jones' faction won out.

Norvell never told Arky he wasn't interested. He signed the Memphis extension when it was clear Morris was getting the Arky job.

Who cares? You believe what you hear, and I believe what I hear.

Plus, are you talking about UTk or Arky? I'm not clear what you are objecting to. UTk not contacting Norvell at some point? You really think Morris was the only coach they put out feelers to? Hell, if Norvell had expressed interest, they still might have gone with Morris, just like they did at Arky, so not sure what you are even adamant about.

And I doubt anybody at UT would ever admit to whom they contacted. It only makes them look bad.

When did looking bad or...looking like a collective of drooling idiots ever stop Tennessee? Norvell was looked at for several spots. All dropped him for whatever reason. May have been serious and they found dirt (as has been suggested) or his agent may have been playing the game he plays so well that he represents about 2/3rd of all SEC coaches. Either way, he's back at Memphis.

It's now time for the Orlando/Traylor era to start at SMU. Get Todd in there and keep Taylor and get a good DC and keep the momentum going.

Correct. TN didn't miss "a" hire they missed like 10. 03-lmfao

I'm starting to wonder if the fans around here are true P6 fans. Either that or SMU fans have sour grapes. 03-yes

I've heard one pundit discuss the idea that Norvell needs to prove he can build and not just sustain. The upcoming season is a good measuring stick as now the majority of the team is his recruits instead of Fuente's. He did a good job finding Ferguson, so if he comes up with another strong quarterback and keeps rolling his star will be in ascension next year, meanwhile he can scrape by on a couple of mil a year til he can do the big cash in.

That just shows how dumb people on the outside can be. Most of our players in the 2 deep are sophs and freshmen, and Norvell killed it recruiting, way better than Fuente.

We had a lot of injuries, especially on D, and the players Norvell replaced them with were better, right from the start.

The only job Norvell flirted with that he truly wanted was Arkansas, and Jerry Jones wanted Morris instead.

Plus, our season this year was better than any of Fuente's seasons. Ask Memphis fans which coach they prefer. It's not close. Better recruiting. Better offense. Better personality. Better all around.

Why would anyone be a "fan" of a conference? It is a silly notion.

It doesn't make a lot of sense if you root for a crummy SEC team and you act like a tough guy b/c Alabama is awesome. However, it does make a little sense for us to wish that our conference does well. If our conference does well we have the potential to get a better TV contract and better bowls. That means more money (and potentially prestige) for the program we support. It's pretty simple.

no its not

I was proud when UC was in the Big East. It meant something to be in Big East basketball (football not near as much). I rooted for all Big East teams in that day because a rising tide raises all boats.

Now, in your case, yeah, not much to cheer about in the MWC so I can see not being a fan of said conference and taking an 'every man for himself' approach.
