Next year the Texas money goes away and he'll be at $2.5mill unless he gets a bump this offseason. Frankly I think I could have coached our team this year to 9-2. Not impressed yet with Strong or O/C Gilbert

Haven't seen Memphis fans celebrating any more than it is, a one year extension. With so many P5 (SEC) jobs open, most are genuinely and pleasantly surprised. I think it'll take more years of success before you see Tiger fans thinking a FB coach may not bolt for greener pastures.

A Memphis reporter said on Twitter that he was offered the extension back in September and just now signed it. Guess he was looking to assess P5 offers first. He was able to use that as leverage and got a MUCH bigger contract out of it. He came out a major winner here. Well deserved.

Memphis will continue to be a force in the West, plus Norvell is winless against UCF and that was with the strongest team in the history of the Memphis program.

It's a win-win-win!

What is his buyout? That could tell you in advance if there is gonna be drama next season.
UCF just put in a 10 million dollar buyout through 2020.......I sure hope it works out for them as it's a huge gamble, but could pay off huge if things go right.
