The Independance Bowl is big to us, but outside of CUSA (and ACC) who really cares. And FAU got hosed. They should be playing FSU.

There's a short but exciting history in the Bahamas Bowl. So people remember exciting games with exciting endings.

All of the Coosa bowls are tops on my list. That's for damn sure.

Then I'll probably watch some old conference mates from the Belt.

"Watchability"...whatever that means. All I know is that FSU recruits high profile kids nationally and a lot of them will be watching their bowl game vs us. We've got an invaluable opportunity to make a big impression on a lot of kids that may otherwise not consider USM when being recruited.

Do you honestly think that kids considering FSU is going to look at S. Miss as a fall back option? A fall back option is a middle of the pack P5 then bottom feeder P5. Then they might starting looking at a G5 as a option

Not only that but this game is being played on a Wednesday, 2 days after Christmas and at 12:30pm. The attention span of a 17 year old boy is short at best. Hell most kids on a recruiting visit have their nose in their phone instead of watching the game. So I see this game being viewed by mostly FSU fans and those diehard 30 and above college football fans that happen to get more than 1 day off for Christmas.

Maybe being on a weekday and at 12:30pm is what is making everyone pick this as the least watchable game

I know plenty of high school seniors with offers from both schools (guess it's the nature of where I live and what I do) who still haven't decided. I know plenty of players who will have offers from both in the next few years as well. They'll be watching. A win doesn't make someone choose a school, but seeing USM be competitive is important. It shows them that while FSU is in the ACC, they can be on just as good a team in Hattiesburg. If you think recruits care about us playing a school like Georgia State, not sure what to tell you. But recruits will pay attention if we're playing a P5 team.

The mistake some seem to be making is thinking these are random kids who will be watching. No, the recruits who will be watching are those who are interested in one or both schools. Maybe they haven't committed, maybe they're too young to be recruited, maybe they're just a year away from that point in their lives, but those with interest will be watching, and beating a P5 team in a bowl game (and having a lot of fans in the stands watching) will be attractive.

Maybe but in my opinion...

I would be reason number #20 on a list of 20

I base that on seeing a ton of kids on recruiting visits at Western. Now I know Western is no FSU or even S. Miss but if a kid is not even going to watch the game they attend on a visit....

I don't see many siting in front of a TV 2 days after Christmas at 12:30 in the morning. You would think those kids had all year to see FSU play.

Watch FSU play Clemson
Watch FSU play Miami
Watch FSU play UF
Watch FSU play Bama
Watch FSU play Louisville
Watch them play every other ACC school they are probably hoping to get a scholarship offer from if not FSU

Again just my opinion but those above games are the must see for a recruit looking to play for a top team. Maybe I'm wrong but my boys are only 8 and 4 years removed from 17 and to be honest I just don't see it.

Wait a damn minute, that can't be the way people look at the bowls. No way, not with the respect...R E S P E C T.
can the S. Miss vs FSU bowl game be rated the most unwatchable bowl

How can this be? Now I didn't read the links so I know I must have this assbackwards

Why? A ****** FSU team playing Southern Miss? They probably figure USM wins big and it will be a snooze fest. This is 2017 not 1998.

Again this isn’t 1998. FSU blows as proven by their play. Losing a QB sucks but they obviously are not exactly good anymore and they are dumpster fire enough for Jimbo to get the hell out on the first train going sans Xmas tree.

If anything it will be an embaresment for FSU in front of recruits USM destroys them.. FSU recruits will be wanting to wear black & yellow

I don’t care who we (CUSA) play! We just need to go 9-0 as I predict we will. There is ZERO reason that any of us should lose. Period. Don’t respond. Lock the thread.

Exactly...

Numbers 1 through 9... In no particular order.. ANY BOWL game with a C-USA team in it.

F' the professional "sports watchers"... (although if I got paid to watch a sport, I'd be silly not to do it).

I don't think USM is going to destroy anybody. FSU's last 3 games, they played some decent FB. Their talent dwarfs USMs, even their headless coaching staff is better than ours. I don't think they wanted any part of FAU, that being one of the reasons USM is in this game.

I think he means for the opportunity to see a G5 knock off a P5. Roy isn't real fond of that scenario, I'd imagine.
