Sucks for us but great for him. At least we might finally have a shot with Moeller kids now.

I suspect he's still a great guy, and - although he'll be missed at UC - this could be a blessing.

I have it on VERY good authority that he's going to make more there than he was in his role at UC.

That wouldn't surprise me given the level of his position at UC. From all I know he's a class act from a fine family. And a Bearcat through and through. This will benefit UC and I believe Doug will return to the University someday in a larger role. Congratulations to Doug. I hope he can continue to improve perceptions about UC and UC football in some way in his new role.

I have known both him and his parents for some time. coached him at All Saints, he was a good kid then, and became a great man after. Moeller couldn't have hired a better person. Will miss him at UC but he may come back some day.

Horribly played game by all three teams (Bengals, Steelers and officials).

I may not have put enough emphasis one MORE...it's a number that seems ludicrous for high school football. I've heard $150,000+ from someone who is close with another in the running for the position.

$150K sounds awfully steep for a high school football coach with no track record. I do know there are a few guys making ~$100,000 right now, and that is based on given roles as teacher, coach, AD, bus driver, whatever other title they can give to justify a higher salary. These are mostly the guys that have won regional and state championships

Wonder if he will take over the rugby team again like he did when he last coached football there. He was great.

A Moeller football coach who bleeds UC Black’nRed? Sounds good to me.

This sounds ridiculous to me.

Rodenberg (the Moeller coach who just resigned) was my high school football coach at McNick. He told us that he took a huge pay cut from being a restaurant manager, and that he calculated his salary as a football coach to be less than 50 cents per hour (he was also a gym teacher and I think a religion teacher, but that was probably close to the lowest paid teaching job you can get).

That's McNick, not Moeller. But still - he was at McNick for 10 years, and other than the first year I think he made the playoffs every year with a 100% white roster.

By the way - it's a shame that he was forced out. Rodenberg is one of the finest role models I've ever met.

The schools justify the salaries by giving the coaches an administration title (ie. Dean Of Students). Most of the suburban high schools in Greater Cincinnati are paying their administrators ~$90-110,000. My ex-wife is a school principal and will earn $105K this year.

I've seen some Twitter folks pimping Tony Pike to fill his spot at UC.

What does the job actually entail anyways?
