Don't worry, we open our season next year against Herm. Seriously.

I have to say... I can't tell you how much I appreciate this thread. The original post and several others were all class. This is a hard day for us and another "nearly there" in a season full of them, so your empathy is a welcome salve. This sucks, but we'll be back next year.

You know how much I love Conference USA. I am truly sorry that the Roadrunners were left out of a bowl game. That's another one of several things I didn't see coming in this wild, topsy turvy football season.

RE: UTSA
Most all of us will probably take our turn at the "snubbed" table in the coming years.

Sorry UTSA. It feels like crap and will make a fanbase boiling mad. We know from experience, and were damn close to it happening again this year (after trips to Bahamas and Hawaii where most were unable to attend).

I hope our fanbase steps up to the plate this year, or we'll be up sh*t creek without a paddle in the future with regards to bowl inclusion.

Coach Wilson's motto this year was "Finish", but we did a worse job of that this season than last year. Gonna sound weird, but I'm actually kinda glad we didn't get in because I feel we needed something like this as a wake-up call.

On the field play doesn't matter though or else UNT wouldn't have gotten the HOD last year. We got left out because we were the last desirable school/fan base to bowls which is a wake up call in and of itself.

on the field still mattered last year since north texas won 5 and got in due to their APR score....if they would have won 4, they would have been left out...

enjoy your winter break home...got just what you deserved...guess sapuro was wrong with his 1000% prediction that utsa would make a bowl...

Wait, so you're saying you "deserved" CUSA's best bowl tie-in with 5 wins? And that we "got what we deserved" even though we reached 6 in 11 games and every other 6 win team needed 12? That doesn't really make sense.

I root for every CUSA team during bowl season but the comments by some of you in this thread make it hard not to root for Troy to kick your teeth in. Not sure why some are upset about playing them either--didn't they win their conference and have a win at Death Valley?

If anyone should complain about UNT getting “the best tie in last year” it’s WKU and Tech. Since we got to play in the armed forces bowl against Navy who had the little 25 next to their name...I feel we were adequately compensated. And I don’t recall any complaints from WKU who got Memphis in Boca.

Well, my point wasn't that UTSA deserved the HOD bowl over everyone else. My point was simply that on the field play doesn't really determine a selection otherwise the least deserving team (on the field) wouldn't have gotten the HOD.

They deserved to get shipped to the Bahamas last year. And so did we this year.

I didn't even make the point to talk crap about UNT btw. Not sure why some of you are getting defensive. I only brought it up bc it's a glaring example of how selections aren't necessarily made based on on-field performance. A fellow UTSA fan said we got left at home bc of our poor play down the stretch and I simply pointed out that imo we were just a less desirable school/fan base to bowls (which might suck even more).

I meant it when I said I hope all CUSA teams would get a bowl. I hate that UTSA got left out. Considering 3 teams got left out I'm pretty impressed that we got 9 of 10 teams in. For a few minutes I thought Marshall would take AF and UTSA would get NM or HOD. Sorry that didn't work out. Good luck to all CUSA schools in their bowl games.

No. Almost every one of their fans refrained from rubbing it in when we got hosed and shipped to the NO Bowl today. I can do the same. There will be plenty of other opportunities to takes shots.

UTSA scheduled properly, but man oh man, the teams they scheduled pretty much all cr*pped the bed. Happens sometime. Wasn't their fault.

Three of four years ago, who would have though that scheduling Baylor, Texas State and Houston OOC would have generated no losses by UTSA and a total of 2 FBS wins by teams they beat OOC?

No idea if that's why the got left out, but boy did they get some bad luck with their schedule.

There should be absolutely no reason for anyone to apologize or tell us "sorry." UTSA did not deserve a bowl game. We lost 4 of 5 games by a single score and failed to score TDs in 8 straight quarters.

Such a shame really. This was probably the best defense ever fielded from UTSA. They finished 7 nationally and 1st in the G5 in total defense.

The loss of the Poinsettia Bowl hurt this year. SDSU would have gone to the Poinsettia bowl and UTSA would probably have been in the AF bowl.
