I'll watch App play Wake on youtube right now. Or any game that you recommend. Beating a bottom 30 team excluded.
Have you seen Toledo play? I'd challenge you to watch a game. I'll give you a list, you choose a game to watch.
1.) Elon by a bunch
2.)Nevada by 13
3.)21 point comeback win by 3 to Tulsa
4.)22 point loss to Miami where we were led at half and were down 38-30 with 7 mins left.
-----------------------------------------------------------
GAMES ABOVE HAD ALL CONFERENCE PLAYER CODY THOMPSON... aka we are a different team now. Cody was a huge part of our offense.
-----------------------------------------------------------
5.) 5 point win to EMU
6.) 20 point win in monsoon vs. CMU
7.) Akron by a bunch
8.) Ball State by a bunch
9.) NIU by 10
10.) 28 point loss to Ohio where Swanson got hurt. This is an example of how bad we can look if all of our weakness' are exploited
11.) BGSU by a bunch
12.) WMU by a bunch
WR Cody Thompson was lost early against EMU. All MAC RB Terry Swanson did not
play in the Eastern game. Rockets played without its top 3 OG and lost its speed DE foe most of the season. The other DE will miss half of the Bowl game because of a targeting call late in the Akron game.

2 hour 19 minute mark is the play Ola was called for targeting. Launching at the chest of a runner...
RE: Dollar General Bowl - Appalachian State vs. Toledo
My advice dear App fans.
Go have a good time.
Mobile is a nice city and the locals take a great deal of pride in hosting.
Stay downtown. Go to Spot of Tea for breakfast. Make the trip to Wintzell's, I cannot endorse the crab soup at Felix's Fish Camp strongly enough. Just walk around downtown and pick up snacks for the hotel room at A&M Peanut.
Make sure you stake out a good spot for the parade and make sure you pay close attention to the we gonna tow you if you park here during the parade signs.

But Troy is the team to give us fits if any team can... Not this years version of App! And truly I truly....watch a lot of G5 ball. Toledo is the 3rd best G5 team and App is about 15th.
I suppose that's why they play the game? Pretty sure I saw your fans posting the same talking points last year.
Last year our pride was a close loss to BYU. Ohio beat us at home. WMU drilled us. The 9-3 was weak pre-bowl, and we knew we were as good as the schedule allowed. Re listen to my podcast... or the Black and Gold Podcast from before the game. I said it would be a game coming down to the wire. We missed a FG and lost. App was a terrific team. I'm not ashamed of that.
I'm not saying we can't lose this game. It's bowl season...crazy stuff happens. But my only retort was to whoever said that App "should" win this game... That's just false. You can't find find a single stat that has them over 50% to win the game, and that's what "should" means. Toledo is favored by Vegas, Massey Composite, FPI, Sagarin, Massey, S&P+, All of em... personal predictions aside.
Yep , I agree with this. I would like to think App is healthier than they have been and has a chance to win. Not sure I would say should. If things go our way and Toledo makes some mistakes App can win. Looking forward to see the game and how App responds to the challenge.

Seems like you're being subjective in your ranking to prop up your position that a team that received top 25 votes last year beat you by a couple points in a bowl game was a down year for Toledo.
I thought you were going to watch some tape. I'd recommend starting with the Wake game, followed by watching your Ohio game.
What's your line again?
I assume you've already placed a big bet on your boys at -8, seems like a no brainer.

Thanks for the data - according to Massey last year's team was the third best team in Toledo's recent history at that time.
Look at our losses last season compared to years I said was better.
2012... lost to Orange Bowl 12-2 #20 NIU, 11-2 #15 USU, 9-4 Ball State, 8-5 Arizona in OT.
2014... maybe last years team was better but we ended on a high note smoking stAte and Kareem Hunt had a spectacular year with 1500 yards. So that team seemed better? Resume maybe it wasnt?
Best to worst... most Toledo fans would agree. While having a good offense with Kareem and Roberts, our defense was turrible... just frickin turrrible.
2015
2011
2017
2012
2016/2014
2010
2013
Data, which you seem to agree means something would indicate that last year's Toledo team was the third best, not 6th as you originally claimed and now tied for 5th. I'd just don't want to sell your team short from last year.
Doesn't matter for this game, looks like Toledo is slightly better this year and in your eyes App is much worse, likely due to the ULM and UMass loss when we weren't very healthy. My main point is App may be better three weeks from now that the cumulative ranking from the season's data. I'm expecting a close game, and think Vegas has set a pretty accurate line, maybe a point or two high. All it takes is one turnover one way or another to make this thing a close App win or two TD win for Toledo.

Your opinion is as good as mine. The game could very well be close.
I gave my subjective opinion watching all of those teams play for 8 years and ranked as so based on competition. I worked for the team from 2012 to 2015. I know good football when i see it.
App seems like a fair team this year but not as good as last year. Toledo is a better collective group and much tougher defensively. Running teams with running QBs are our bugaboo so Lamb has as good of a chance as any to put up points. WMU was that type of team this year and we handled them the last game of the year. So we have seemed to work some kinks out?? Hard to tell.
Terry Swanson and Shakif Seymour are the new 2 headed monster in the backfield. Lots of TDs and yards between the 2.

Fair assessment. A lot of our inconsistency has been contributed by injuries, some of the inconsistency I really can't explain. We seem to play up to competition and down. It's a bowl game, so who knows what will happen. Hopefully we will play up to the competition.

I hope the game is entertaining. I'm the sick individual that enjoyed the ulm and umass games due to the absurdity of their closeness. App has won their first 2 bowl games by 6 points I believe..... It would be nice not to lose or win by 14+.

5, I believe. 3 against Toledo and 2 against Ohio.

Good. They weren't last year either.
Interesting thing about the articles claiming that Toledo deserves better surfaced a bit last year as well. "We are just glad to be here" has been our motto for the last two years, and will serve us well against Toledo a second time. AppState is playing with more confidence and authority over the last 3 games of the season... much like the AppState team many had expected to see by week 3 of this year. It's a winnable game for the Mountaineers, but make no mistake: we should be underdogs going into this game. Given our overall performance this season, the odds makers have this closer than I would have set it.
Unfortunately for me, I will miss watching AppState in the postseason in person for the first time in about 20 years, but will be watching and rooting for AppState from afar. For those making the trip, be safe and have fun.

Most Rocket fan thought Appalachian State was a very good match up last season. Rockets were not the MAC Champs or West Division Winner. Very pleased with the treatment the team got by Montgomery folks and the quality of the game-all that needs to be said is it came down to a FG to take it into OT. Would have really liked a shot at Troy this year. Wouldn't mind a home and home against App State either.
