We've got a good home stretch coming after Xavier that should help and I imagine even losing to Xavier will help our RPI. Hoping we get above 150 by conference play at least. That Morehead loss is going to haunt us this season though, for a while. I can live with the Illinois and W&M losses.

I think if we go 2-1 that we can break into the Top 150 before conference play. That is also my goal as I do not want us to be a drag on the better teams in our conference. We have a shot at getting multiple bids if we can finish strong down the stretch.

This league is much improved as a whole this season. The bottom is still bad but the middle of the pack and top 3 or 4 teams are collectively improved. Conference play is going to be alot of fun. We're only 3 games under .500 OOC as a conference. For reference, we were 23 games under .500 last season and 27 under the season before that.

One reason your SOS is totally made up by what other schools do and the conference is only a average of all schools RPI

So while winning a few games....there could have been other conference to gain more by teams they played winning.

This early in the season you will see swings because one win or loss by the schools you played are such a small sample there is more movement.

a team that is 4-4 or .500 can lose a game and drop to .444

later on if a team is 10-10 or .500 and they lose .476

Easier to move up or down at this point since the PPI is based on average winning % and basically nothing else for 75% (sos)of the RPI

Well we haven't ended up a drag on the conference RPI yet in this iteration and I don't see it happening this year. Top four finish 2 years ago and in the finals last year of the tournament with no RPIs over 150 in a long time.

Oh I agree. I just thought if there was going to be a year then it might would be this one. I always hate watching the RPI of MTSU drop like a rock when they hit conference play. Be nice if the rest of us could at least give them some quality in conference wins.

RE: Basketball RPI watch
RPI has everything to do with average winning % and nothing to do with where a team is in the RPI
