If he is showing promise, yes.
I think there are most likely 3 or 4 coaches they would have to miss on before getting to Norvell.

Maybe true but in any case, for Arkansas, it would be a high reward, low risk hire.
I don't think they offer an up and comer as much as they offer proven coaches, obviously.
So, Norvell would be effectively if he wins good for us and if he doesn't bad for him.
Three years tops.
And you have to beat a bunch of SEC teams in that length of time.
Including Alabama.
High risk for Norvell.

Arkansas just needs to accept the fact they are gonna finish 3rd or 4th in the SEC West in perpetuity and focus on making new styles of pig hats. It's not the coach.

Arkansas would be complete tards to go after anyone not named Mike Norvell
It's a no brainer homerun hire
He's a young Urban Meyer
Let's just hope they are idiots

Personally I would be a little disappointed with Norvell if he takes the Ark job. I know he has ties, but that is not a good job. Maybe in a few years Saban will retire, then you have all the other good teams in the SEC west to deal with after that.

A P5 job in your home town area. Maybe it's a job he covets just based on location. I could see him wanting that job.

Allegedly Sexton told Norvell Arkansas is just too difficult of a job to jump on right now. Who knows, but I hope that is true.

Why do you assume it's just about the money? A lot of places can pay 3 or 4 million. A lot of those would be better places to coach than Arkansas. Take a job where you think you can succeed. In the best of years Arkansas will finish 3rd in their division.

Ok. He played college football in Arkansas and spent a lot of time there. I would assume if the flagship SEC program in that state offered him a 3 or 4 mill per year contract to be their head coach, he would leave the University of Memphis to accept that offer. If you don't think that, we can agree to disagree. And if they make that offer and he doesn't accept, he will probably accept another (better, in your opinion) P5 offer for 3 or 4 million.

RE: Bielema out at Arkansas
You know,at my age, there are many more important things to worry about than this is he staying or is he going sh!t. What will be will be.
I reveled in the glory of Cal BB years, was a rabid fan, made sure I watched every thing I could, season tickets, all that crap.
I reveled in the Deangelo years of Tiger football, suffered through the Porter years, loved the Fuente comeback, still have season tix to football.
But, I came to the realization that I can't control one bit of this stuff, I am a spectator. I can only control what I can control. I will enjoy the successes and dismiss the failures as just too f'in bad.
If the man wants to stay, I will pat him on the back and tell him thanks if I get to meet him. If he decides here is not what he wants, then so be it. It was nice having you around for a while. It was fun. But, in the end, it's not the end of the world. I got more important stuff to stress over.

He was born in Irving, TX and grew up in Arlington, TX.
And he played college football at Central Arkansas, his wife is from Fort Smith (45 minutes south of Fayetteville), and his wife has family in Fayetteville (brother). Being close to her family was a major draw to the Memphis job...
Like I said, I think Arkansas has at least 3 or 4 coaches they call before Norvell but I would fully expect him to take the Arkansas job if offered...

Spot on.
Arkansas obviously wants Malzahn. Think Norvell is in the next tier along with Charlie Strong.

Great time for Norvell to take the Arky job.
aTm is going to change coaches;
OMyth is a dumpster fire right now;
LSU hired freakin' Orgeron as their HC;
Auburn => who knows with that fanbase;
Bama => well, Saban's been beating everyone and if you beat him once every 5 years and you are under the age of 40 (which Norvell is), you're going to be the 'next great head coach'.
Misstake may be watching Mullen go somewhere else.
Throw in the fact that he has ties to the region, I think Norvell would likely take the offer.

RE: Bielema out at Arkansas
JF seemed like he was always going to leave Memphis when he had a chance, not saying he didn't enjoy his time but you could tell that he wanted to be incharge of a power 5 school. No surprise to me when he left and how he left. Norvell seems a little different, I still think he leaves but I don't think it's a given. I think Memphis's AD has a chance to keep him but it's going to take a lot. If we want to keep our good young coaches we need to over pay them by a fair amount or eventually get into a power 5. Until then Memphis will be a stepping stone instead of a landing spot. My best advice would be to enjoy it as much as possible while we can.
