in Arkansas, Football season officially concludes the First Saturday in November, when High School regular season play ends. After that, attendance drops everywhere as Modern Gun Deer season starts the second Saturday. Once Deer season starts, you can forget having essentially every interested male in the state who owns a firearm in attendance for the rest of the season. There are some exceptions. Including a note that around Jonesboro, hunting season ends November 19th, forcing most hunters to drive more than an hour to the South to hunt, but that's never stopped anyone.
Even the Razorbacks struggle to sell out in November in good seasons.

I'm not a hunter at all, but deer and duck hunting is king around here. Football takes a back seat.

I only hunt turkey, it doesn't interfere with football.

I don't hunt at all, but there are people here who literally spend every weekend of deer season with every male member of a family out hunting.
It's something you just can't fight here.

Back in Jr. High, I remember the Friday before deer season started as sort of an unofficial holiday. I vividly remember being one of like two males left in my whole grade (small school) throughout the day. My dad couldn't get off work until the afternoon to check me out, so even i didn't go the whole day.

Yep. Still some smaller schools now where it becomes an unofficial holiday.

There is nothing in our history that says we'll have any sort of a crowd for this. I know we had a great crowd for the MTSU game years ago, but this isn't MTSU, and Gus Malzahn is not the coach.
Well, there is no history of big games in December besides the MTSU game. At least in the 33 years that I have been attending. All those IAA games when we had a dismal fan base don't rise to the same level.
I agree, if its below 50, forget it. But if the weather is good, and the conf. championship is on the line, it will be a good energetic crowd with an announced attendance of 21-23k.

Here we go. Another phase underway. The money put into the football stadium is just something I never thought I would see.

Arkansas State is doing an impressive job in renovating their stadium. Are big donors funding these improvements? Where’s the money coming from?
Regardless, kudos to ASU!

Do the Pa schools suffer from deer hunting-related attendance problems? I know they cancel classes and such on opening day.

All privately funded. Our AD always emphasizes the generation of revenue in any project. This one will be no different. We will have one of the best football stadiums complexes in the G5 before we are done.

And we might be minus a great AD soon if he keeps this up. Someone is going to notice and offer him a LOT of money.

We're faxing all our numbers to WKUG for his next sets of charts and spread sheets. He should have them up soon once he's approved them.

Construction begins immediately, so the school can get it done as fast as possible, as we're selling the area as "premium seating". As such, there will not be end zone seating available for the Troy game on Dec 2nd. (About 3K less tickets can be sold) School decided it's not a big deal overall because we're not expected to have much of a crowd for Troy unless the Trojans bring a lot of people or something crazy.
Chiefsfan, I'm one Mountaineer that thinks your stadium renovations are spot on. G5 schools need to add features like this to enhance the fan experience. All most G5 stadiums need is the ability to hold 30-35k and offer plenty of amenities for regular supporters like club seating, boxes, outdoor loggias, water features etc. The great thing about the G5 is that it is still accessible... seating upgrades etc. can be enjoyed by the middle class and not just the upper class. You guys got it right, and I think AppState is thinking along these same lines in the very near future. Looks awesome and I look forward to seeing the finished product.

Exactly. Most people are being priced out of the experience at the P5 level.

Ha! That's right. I'm sure he's already spending countless hours to prove that we are liars and all of our improvements are make believe

Basically trying to bring a little minor league baseball flair, if you will, to the G5 level. On a side note, minor league baseball games are the best.
