Another sad year for the AAC
With the enjoyable rout of UConn by BC and the regrettable loss of Navy to Notre Dame, the AAC record against the big boys finished at 4-12.

and yet it's 99.99% guaranteed that the G5 slot will be going to the AAC.

Oh, and it's 4-11. 0-2 vs ACC, 0-5 vs Big 12, 2-0 vs Pac 12, 0-1 vs SEC, and 0-2 vs ND.
and context-
MWC 3-18
CUSA 2-19
MAC 4-17
SBC 1-16

RE: Another sad year for the AAC
I hate when people spout off G5 vs P5 records, no matter the conference. It's not like they are indicative of anything. P5 teams usually only schedule the bad/average G5 team because they don't want to lose. P5 teams rarely play G5 teams on the road or neutral settings.

The combination of the two makes the stats what they are. In a fantasy world where scheduling was completely random, including home team, the statistics would be a whole lot different I think. That doesn't mean that we are talking an even W/L record, but far from the 14-81 record. Therefore, why even bring up the stat? Just drives the narrative that there is a much bigger competitive gap than there really is.

AAC will be the Access team barring some really bizarre outcome.

uh, no. If USF beats top 15 UCF and then top 20 Memphis, they will top Boise who will have to beat Fresno State twice to win the MWC. It won't be really all that close even.

keep dreaming pal. what would be bizarre would be USF winning out now and NOT getting the G5 spot. Esp with what Boise has left.

100% chance USF gets the Access spot after we beat UCF and Memphis.

Sad...lulz.
Three ranked teams, lock for a big bowl. AAC Championship game is gonna be a beast. Top teams winning their ooc games.

10-0 UCF
9-1 Memphis
9-1 USF

Wins over 2 Big ten teams and a PAC team

We will take a sad year like this every year.

Op has a wee little bit of butthurt.

Actually, we have wins vs two PAC teams as well. But, the one thing we sorely lack this year is a quality win over a P5 team. The CFP cannot be accused of disrespecting us, as 100% of our accomplishments have come against each other or other G5.

Look at those "two Big Ten wins" you tout: UCF beat Maryland. Maryland is 4-7 and after losing to Penn State next week will be 4-8. They are last in the Big Ten Legends or whatever.

USF beat Illinois. Illinois hasn't won a game since September 9th.

IOW's, we beat the two last-place B1G teams.

And Memphis, the other AAC division winner, beat 5-6 UCLA. They need to beat Cal to be bowl eligible next week, and they'd be out of it entirely if not for the inexplicable comeback vs Texas A/M.

The one semi-respectable P5 win we have is Houston > Arizona way back in early September. Even after getting crushed by a mediocre Oregon team last night, Arizona is 7-4 and going to a bowl. But let's face it, they got WAY better when Khalil Tate became their QB, which came after the Houston game.

So claims of disrespect are pretty silly. The CFP and pollsters are treating UCF, USF, and Memphis as if we've done anything vs the P5 this year.

RE: Another sad year for the AAC
The P5 haven't been able to beat our top teams either. The #8 team in the country barely slipped past our 4th or 5th best team last night.[/sarcasm]

Seriously, though... The p6 thing is strictly a marketing ploy, and I think it's working.

W% vs non-conference teams:

SEC - 86%
B1G - 76%
B12 - 67%
P12 - 77%
ACC - 71%

"P5" - 76%

AAC - 58%

"G4" - 41%

MAC - 44%
MWC - 44%
USA - 43%
SBC - 34%

13% below the lowest P5 and 14% ahead of the next best G5. 18% behind the combined P5, and 17% ahead of the combined "G4". Not quite a power conference on the field, but ahead of the rest of the G5 by the same amount that we trail the big boys.

3 Top 25 schools.

We are making progress, and that's with 2 of the 3 old Big East school's football teams in the crapper right now. Progress is being made, and with 1/10th the resources that the power schools have. Give it another few years. We're getting there.

No, it's 4-12.

Wins
Arizona (Houston)

Maryland (UCF)

Losses
Oklahoma State (Tulsa)
Notre Dame (Temple)
Michigan (Cincinnati)
West Virginia (ECU)
Virginia (UConn)
Virginia Tech (ECU)
TCU (SMU)
Oklahoma (Tulane)
Texas Tech (Houston)
Missouri (UConn)
Notre Dame (Navy)
Boston College (UConn)

If you want to add an ECU win over BYU to the win column, the record becomes 5-12.
