The NCAA should definitely reverse the targeting penalty for next weeks game.

Many calls were terrible but that one took the cake.

Doesn't matter. It was in the first half. Still, a totally whack call.

I was trying to figure out how the call got made...maybe they ALL had a bad angle???

What I cannot understand at all is how the f u c k i n g replay official could confirm it. There's zero reason for that call to have been confirmed. It just wasn't even close......

Yeah, the replay official for sure needs to be gone.

just watched the replay on my dvr, and right when they come back from halftime, they show a replay angle that we did not see at the stadium.

#37 committed the targeting foul on a different player, THEN he shoved the kicker down.

Okay, thanks. That helps to explain that call. However, the call on the QB sack was atrocious. Watch the replay, the head ref is standing right next to the players as they sack the QB, and he is reaching for his flag before any whistle can be blown, the sack had just started to occur; and you can clearly see him reaching for his flag. This entire crew needs to be fired and never call a college game again. Heck, the ref keeping time on the field blew it 3 times in the FIRST HALF and the clock had to be adjusted. And I lost count of the number of times they had to have a conference before making any calls. These guys deserve to be ridiculed, they're complete idiots.

was comey officiating this too, Boom..

They called defensive holding on that play, not pass interference.

And can somebody with REAL knowledge of the rules clue us in... is weather or not the ball is catch-able a factor in college, Pro, or is it conference-specific? Also, as an aside, I thought PI in college was always a 15 yard penalty, and an automatic 1st down. But I think it was Thursday night(?) I was watching a college game (can't remember who was playing other than it wasn't AAC) and the PI happened about 7 yards past the LOS, the ref said it was "a spot infraction", placed the ball at the spot of the foul - and an auto 1st down.
If the pi occurs within 15 yards of the Los, then it's a spot foul. If it occurs outside of 15 yards of the los, then it's a 15 yard penalty.

RE: The Absolute Worst
What about the 2nd down goal line run where we appeared to easily get the touchdown? Did he really not make it in? I kept waiting for the replay official to review that one.

There was also a very strange non targeting call. SMU was about to punt the ball, there had been NO flag, and the refs said they were going to review the previous play for targeting. The review found no targeting, but it was very odd

Also, the missed holding call on #1 reminded me of professional wrestling. Everyone in the stadium saw the massive hold except for the refs (who then proceeded to throw a defensive holding flag)

Also, the missed facemask call on Miller— another professional wrestling moment

You are uncertain of how you feel about referees?

Yep. Normally they do things to call into question their competency then later redeem themselves with correct calls in tough situations.

I wasn't conflicted at all yesterday. They were awful.

Agree, totally.

I managed to grab the clip from the targeting call
