There are three people sitting near us decked out in UConn gear for a Louisville-Syracuse football game being played in awful weather. Old Big East rivalries die hard I guess.

Question is: I didn't realize there were three UConn Football fans in Greater Louisville.

I actually know one that was born in Storrs. Nice guy, loves UConn basketball doesnt care much for college football.

I always thought UK fans were the only ones bent enough to dress up in their gear and go to a game that doesn't involve them. UConn fans may be worse.

Why is this surprising? The other 5 Uconn FB fans were at Fenway for the BC game.

Pitt's program was blown up by a first year AD Scott Barnes that ran Jamie Dixon off, hired a washed-up has-been to which his agent had connections, while Barnes himself had no intention of sticking out the change and was actively pursing other jobs. Pitt likely won't win a conference game, and is also very likely the worst program in a power league right now (and probably some mid-major conferences) and for the foreseeable future. You couldn't have intentionally destroyed a basketball program any more efficiently. Some home attendances to start the season have been below 3K, and it will only going to get worse.

You're all welcome to a free win or two this year thanks to this hot mess.

I've been to games in other D1-A/FBS stadiums when Clemson wasn't playing and I wore neutral colors. People who wear regalia of a third party school to a game are a step below the Mongoloids who wear player jerseys as adults.

Ah yes, the 20 combined rivalry games UConn has played against Syracuse and Louisville. Nobody is stopping UConn from scheduling their true rivals, URI and UMass.

Well ... in hoops, we are 11 and 6 against UConn all time ... the last few years we pretty much owned them, several times posting 25 point + victories.

I will say this about UConn. They did Card fans a huge favor by beating Kentucky for the title in 2014. That year we beat UConn by 12 in Gampel, by 35 at home, and by 10 again for the AAC conference title. And we blew it against UK in the Sweet Sixteen .... still painful to think about how that one got away. What could have been.

Yes, basketball is a different story. UConn had great 90’s rivalries with BC, PC, Syracuse, G’town, etc. Louisville had a great run in the BE w/Pitino. When Crum was there they always seemed to be in the top of the Metro.

Well ... Crum had great teams, but had to schedule like a monster out-of-conference each year, because the top of the metro was basically us, Memphis State and one random team (Tulane one year, Virginia Tech with Stephon Curry's daddy another, Florida State another, South Carolina another ... etc.)

Hardly a conference as good as the Big East, or ACC, or even CUSA with Memphis, Marquette, Cincinnati, and the decent-at-the-time UAB, and UNC-Charlotte.
