Hmmm. So what they did while coaching at Western Michigan University for multiple years doesn't count as being reflective of what they would do if they were coaching at Western Michigan University?

He’s rebuilding the culture of a 9 win team that returned 8 on both sides of the ball.

And what has Lester has done with the culture of a 13 win team that returned nearly as many starters (don't know the exact number)?

Seems pretty unfair (and low) to involve her in your disdain for PJ, but that’s just my opinion.

Not by ALL accounts. Don't sue me, but I've heard a few firsthand accounts of her not being actually very nice.

If it was said on this board all of the things you hear from people with firsthand accounts, this place would be an even bigger crapshow.

And it has been! 03-lmfao

Nope, no criticism allowed here or else you get accused of having ulterior motives and get called every name in the book. 03-shhhh

Couldn’t possibly be that you care deeply about the state of the program! 05-nono

Unless Minisoda pulls huge upset Saturday, Lester-WMU will be going to a bowl and Fleck-Goofers will not.

If we lose to Toledo will we necessarily get a bowl? I thought still decent chance we wouldn't. No?

With 39 bowls and 129 FBS teams, odds of a six-win team not making one are slim.

Especially since Big Ten is probably only going to qualify seven teams for its ten slots.

I would be willing to be you that if Lester was coaching Minnesota they wouldn't be going to a bowl game either. I mean c'mon, you think if Minnesota played our schedule they wouldn't have more wins?

Some of the stuff that gets said on here is ridiculous.

I've asked you before. You're a coach, so you know a well coached team when you see one. This isn't it. Just would like you to come out and say it.

LOL

Coach Fleck’s whole deal is based on rebuilding a failed culture. In order to get to the “failure” condition, there is little emphasis on winning. Winning is counter productive to proving the previous regime was bad.

Following the despair of the first season, getting back to 7 or 8 wins seems like success. Mean while you’ve decided on a group of players to give all the playing time for the coming 3 years. You push them hard, brainwash them with your culture, force them to play thru injury, and don’t worry about developing your backup players for the future.

Three years later you have one year of outstanding success, you ditch the team and move up to some other desperate program, and leave a dumpster fire at your current school. I think PJ is right on track with his plan. 39-0 certainly proves how much Minnesota sucked on his arrival, right?

Nice work if you can get it.

Probably. But let's look at the wins it took to get there. They're fantastic.

Idaho (3-7)
Ball St. (2-9)
Buffalo (5-6)
Wagner 4-7 FCS team
Kent St. (2-9)
EMU (4-7)

We better hope we get a bowl. We need the extra practice.

Oh, hi again straw man.

Four straight top recruiting classes in the MAC. If you want to debate that based on whichever recruiting site you follow (rivals, 247, scout, etc.) then you’re simply playing semantics.

The fact is that WMU overwhelmingly had the best four-year streak of accumulating talent within our conference.

Regardless of who left (Terrell, Davis, Moton, Adams are of note), it was hardly a dumpster fire he left us with. About the complete opposite.

The point is consecutive years of very good recruiting classes is the exact definition of depth.

We are literally just a couple plays away from being a 3-win team.

I think we’re a lock to get a bowl game with 6 wins, thankfully. Last year, the last couple spots went to 5-7 teams with the highest APR. In which case, I believe Minnesota would have a pretty good shot to make the cut. Not out of the question.

If we got an invite to play in Detroit against Minnesota, I wouldn’t want to touch that with a 100 ft. oar.... although it would be sweet revenge to beat them. Let’s hope it doesn’t get to that point.

Or a couple of unforced fumbles from being 7-1, 8-0. Ifs and buts cans and nuts.

We have been in every game this season. Every one of them.

Yeah, we played poorly at MSU-but so did the MSU offense.

We could easily have 8-9 wins this season. And this with TWO FRESHMAN QB's.

Too many glass half empty folks in here.

And yeah, the extra practice towards a bowl game is a leg-up on all our MAC rivals for next season. With game-inexperienced players, every little bit helps.

You talk about we could easily have 8 or 9 wins, well you are just supporting our argument. Because the difference in those 8 wins is home losses to Akron and CMU. We shouldn't expect to win those at home?

We should have won the Akron game, no excuse for losing that one. CMU with a true frosh QB with one week of practice as the starter and in pouring rain? Doubtful.

But, that's why you play the games. You can 'expect' anything you like, but things happen.

If you look back at expectations for this season when we made predictions in February and March I knew it was going to be a tough season. Thought too many of you were reading too much into last season's success. We lost a lot of talent in crucial sectors.
