I love the positive vibe of this thread. Thanks for starting it jjj.

I LOVE our red & black home uniforms. Those must NEVER go away.

I love that we have live Huskie mascots - with Diesel & now with Mission.

I love seeing the Diesel Memorial finished & looking so beautiful!

I love our stadium announcer & the way he says that's a Huskie first down.

I love how close we are to the stadium for tailgating. Even in the Convo lot we can see the stadium & it's not a far walk at all. We are VERY lucky to all be so close.

I love the awesome group of people in our season ticket area & the camaraderie we have together.

I love having the team on the west side now.

I love coming into DeKalb for the first home game of the season...and how exciting it feels to be back in DeKalb for Huskie football. At Homecoming when we got off of 88 and on to Annie Glidden Rd. there were signs on the right that said Welcome Home Huskies....actually brought tears to my eyes.

I love Huskie Stadium. Even as much as everyone thinks it needs upgrades & improvements...I love it just the way it is. It is "home" & it is comfortable to be there. 03-cloud9

I love NIU being the underdog in every game vs power 5 opponents and proving them wrong so many times.

I like our color scheme, Red and Black is the coolest color combination you can have

The Hard Way is the best mantra in College Football

NIU has a small but passionate fanbase

Plain and Simple...NIU wins...a lot

I also love that - thanks to many people - fans, friends, alumni & the other 4 amazing people I worked with- we got the Diesel Memorial completed and it is now a part of NIU for many many years to come. Long after I am gone my kids can go to Huskie Stadium for football games and see the Diesel sculpture & plaque & they can be proud. Everyone who donated can feel proud to be a part of such a great memorial. 04-cheers

THAT is WAY cool!

We belong in the Big 10 Conference more than the flagship university of our state does!

+1

The program that Joe Novak rebuild from close to bottom of Div 1a to an annual powerful mAC West contender which has arguably the best 15 year record in the State of Illinois.
Arguably na B1G like program in the MAC.
A Cinderella Football program.
Proof that despite having a very limited athletic budget you can still beat schools like Nebraska!

RE: List an item or two that is "cool" about NIU football.
In 1997 NIU was the worst school in the MAC.
However in the past 20 years NIU has gone to the Conference title fame on seven occasions.
Winning the MACC 3 times.
Being MAC west co-champions in 2002, 2003, 2004
MAC West representative 2005, 2010-15!
Over the last 20 years NIU has gone from worst in the MAC West to arguably the most consistent team in the MAC West.

Perhaps the Best and most consistent mid college FB program in the Midwest.
Perhaps the most consistent FB team in Illinois.

Oh and it looks like NIU will have more wins in the Big Ten this year than U of I. Pretty sure this is the second or third year in the past 5 years we are doing that!

Love the tradition that the players keep starting and passing down. For example, this postgame win celebration started back in the Martel Moore, Pat Schiller days and its still going strong.

Schiller posted this video after the WMU game which was pretty cool to see

These are basically mine as well. Also I like it when we play tough D and knock the hell out of better teams that are expected to beat us. Love it when our D is flying around knocking the hell out of guys.

Considering that the school down south has a football budget well over 20 times that of NIU, a former Bears HC and plays 8 B1G games a year that is rather counterintuitive.
