Team Records Since Playing in MACC
Just had some downtime and threw these numbers together. W/L records for teams since appearing in the MACC.

Records are from the year following their MACC appearance through YTD 2017

CMU (2009 appearance...2010-2017 YTD)
46-53

Miami (2010 appearance...2011-2017 YTD)
23-61

Ohio (2011 appearance...2012-2017 YTD)
46-30

Kent State (2012 appearance...2013-2017 YTD)
14-44

BGSU (2013 appearance...2014-2017 YTD)
24-27

NIU (2010 appearance...2011-2017 YTD)
67-26

Toledo...well, nevermind.

Sustaining a winning football program at the G5 level is incredibly difficult. That's all.

RE: Team Records Since Playing in MACC
I want nothing more than the Huskies to go to and win the MACC this year. However, if they beat CMU to go 9-3 in the regular season and win some dumb bowl game, I will be extremely happy.

Yes, I would give the season an A if that happened.
A+ is winning the MACC.

Hard to find records going back to 2004.

Agreed, but having Toledo win the West and MACC will be a buzz kill. They haven't won the west since 2004. That's like "Back to the Future" time frames.

RE: Team Records Since Playing in MACC
Yes, this is true, but with many near misses, unlike other MAC schools. Lets not lose focus of those records you put up there and what has happened since then. Those are some bad records. UT unlike almost every other MAC school mentioned has continued to be relevent in the MAC and held up our side of the deal in representing the MAC well with being competitive, playing big schools competitively, going to bowl games and winning most of them. Say what you want, but over a very long period of time, even before NIU started to win again, UT has represented the MAC well. If UT is just another Kent State for example, things would be even worse in the MAC then they already are. Before NIU was good, NIU was one of those Kent States. I am happy that isnt the case anymore. I dont want to say bad things about NIU. I am glad we have more good teams. Its good to have a better product all around in the MAC in my opinion.

In the case of BGSU, their last championship followed a streak of three consecutive appearances, and CMU went three times in four years. In both cases, it was one stud QB who lead them to three appearances. Then he graduated, the coaching staff moved on to greener pastures, and the rest of the team was picked dry like meat off of a turkey.

Hey, that reminds me. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Ohio, Toledo, and the Huskies are the three teams that are always competitive. Like pizza and sex, even when they are bad, they are still pretty good.

Oh, fine. Interrupt our chest thumping with rationality and class.

We don't go for that sort of thing here, Mister.

Good points.

Have to say, Toledo has been remarkably consistent in that timeframe. Without question, NIU and Toledo are the premier programs in the MAC.

No doubt. I only made that comment in jest. If you're looking at consistently solid programs, the MAC hasn't offered much besides NIU, Toledo and possibly Ohio over the past 10 years. It's incredibly difficult to sustain success in the MAC.

When you guys stop saying stupid #@$% about Toledo just to make yourselves feel better. I don't understand the animosity toward UT at all from NIU. Have any of you guys ever had a bad experience at one of our games or with any of our alums?

It's our rivalry game (because of the competition), but we definitely respect Toledo. Do you guys say nice things about BGSU or show them respect?

I can understand it's annoying hearing that Toledo has won the MACC since Year X, though until NIU's recent success we had to hear from a lot of Toledo fans about the overall record between Toledo and NIU.

I don't think we were ever quite Kent State. We had a few very bad years when Novak came in, but other than that we weren't that bad.

Toledo since 2004 last time in Detroit: winning record of 95-63
Clearly a great team and NIU's biggest rival in the MAC West.
14 seasons: 9 Bowl games, 8 straight winning seasons.
Since Tom Amstutz left in 2008, Toledo has had 8/9 winning seasons.

Toledo 2005 9-3.
Toledo 2006 5-7
Toledo 2007 5-7
Toledo 2008. 3-9
Toledo 2009 5-7 Tim Beckmann first season

Sorry 007. We did really suck under Charlie Sadler whom I believe ran the NIU FB program into the ground. Although we only rejoined the MAC again in 1998 our record during these 8 years speaks volumes. During 1996 and 1997 we were actually worse then Kent State, but you are correct somehow between 1991-1995 and even in 1998 Kent State managed to do worse than NIU during 6 of the 8 year losing span in the 1990's.

1991 Charlie Sadler 2-9
1992 Charlie Sadler 5-6
1993 Charlie Sadler4-7
1994 Charle Sadler 4-7
1995 Charlie Sadler 3-8
1996 NIU 1-10 107/111 Kent State 2-9 96/111
1997 NIU 0-11 110/112 Kent State 3-8 87/111
1998 NIU 2-9 100/112

Sounds to me like someone has no confidence in their team and is afraid NIU is going to backdoor their way into the MACC.
