Exclamation UC @ East Carolina
I know most have checked out of football now that the Cats are 3-7 on the year and BB has started up, but wanted to get a thread going on the upcoming game.

ECU have given up 45 points/game (last in CFB). Our offense averages ~20 points a game (in the bottom quartile). Our highest offensive scoring output was 32 against Navy. Is this the week the offense breaks out and light up the scoreboard?

No. Sorry I don't see that happening this year with this offense. I just hope they win.

I think we are in for a tight pillow fight in the low to mid 20's.

RE: UC @ East Carolina
My personal take is that this game is, for all intents and purposes, a "push." And, sadly, the game is not on a neutral field, so I'm expecting that the home-field advantage is going to push ECU over-the-top.

I think the final score will be close:
UC-27
ECU-30

And yeah...it could well come down to the FG that ECU makes that UC simply can't...either because we missed it or because the drive stalls out beyond the functional range of UC's kicker. But Dowdy-Ficklen offers ECU a pretty decent home-field advantage in any case.

RE: UC @ East Carolina
We've beaten them 6 straight times and going into this year I had this marked as #7. Now, too close to call. Odds have ECU +3.5. ECU fans have thrown in the towel so I don't expect a raucous crowd. I was thinking of going earlier this year since it is only about a 3 hour drive from my house but I'll pass. At least the game is not on ESP3.

I'll let Ernest comment on this matchup. He can say it better in one syllable than I can in an entire post:

I probably won't be watching the last 2 games, but I do hope Luke uses these games to try and get some other guys playing time. Most notably Trail and Sopko. Some of our younger true freshman that have been playing as well like Potts. Pending injury, there is no reason Trail doesn't get any snaps.

Also, will any else be watching this match up other than hardcore UC and ECU fans and degenerate gamblers?

I will watch. Not because I am UC sportswatching superman, but it is the last two football games before the long offseason. If UConn wasn't a stupid 12 oclock game (bad tailgating), I would consider going to UConn.

I may be one of the few fans who have been at all 3 wins. Regrettably I cannot go to ECU game as the wife has a Fox Hunting Dinner.

I envy you ol sport.

We too were to attend a Fox Hunting Dinner, but unfortunately, Muffy's best Foxhound, Mr. Tibbs has the squirts and we decided to forgo the whole thing. Her brother is the Master of Foxhounds and really good at it. My gosh time is flying. It was just the other day he was a young lad and merely just a lowly Kennelman. But I digress.

Cheers

With little confidence, I'll predict a UC win. ECU won't have its usual home crowd or any bowl to play for. Of course one could argue UC will face a road game with no postseason either.

I say the defense continues to make progress and shine against AAC bottom feeders; the running game gets rolling and Hayden has a solid performance much like he did against Tulane.

UC 31
ECU 27

Might as well. It's a coin flip, and not in a good way...

Doubtful. Word is both are seriously considering transferring.

The wonderful ECU defense gives up an average of about 7 yds/play. That's 2nd and 3 a whole lot of times. We win.

Not being a jerk, because I assume both are great kids, but really? If they were good enough would they not be playing?

They probably watch our current quarterback and think, "If I can't start ahead of him, I'd better transfer to Division II."

Kinda what Bruce said. I think they are seeing that with Moore having one more year and Bryant and Ridder waiting in the wings there just won’t be a spot for them.
