DePaul didn’t just lay 66 on an opponent on the gridiron.

Asking for a friend.

Your usual and predictable condescending sarcasm is duly noted.

Thanks but you misspelled "knowledge" as "sarcasm."

You wish. Thanks anyway Richard.

I think Dick was actually what you wanted to come out of your mouth, but Richard was sweeter.

04-cheers

I'll leave that type of thing to you...

That never works.

The AD should have insisted on hiring a Head Coach who had a good track record for recruiting in the first place. IDK maybe he did and was overruled.

Well the season has started so let’s make the best of it. The new players seem sincere so win, lose, or draw they deserve our support.

My 2cents anyway.

Some would say the players deserve a better coach.

Spilled milk now and I don’t think we’ll challenge for the final 4 nor do I think coach is going anywhere. All I’m saying is let’s see how the season goes and accept the good, the bad, and the ugly of it.

Contrary to popular belief it could be more fun than anyone thinks.

I feel much better about the future of the program after reading Dr Rudd’s comments.

Your usual and predictable condescending sarcasm is duly noted but as I've said and will continue to say, it was reasonable to at least see the team play before condemning the entire thing and process. Having said that, to this point it's fair to say that this may be the worst team since the Tommy Lowry teams of the late 70s. Tony Hubbard would get big minutes on this team.
It sucks. Could things improve? Sure and they likely will but it won't be enough to promote any optimism. It's a problem none of us wanted and who knows how it ends or how long we'll be having this stupid azz conversation, but it appears that's the reality of the situation.

It's the lack of any kind of recruiting that's causing most of the angst. Most of us can weather a bad / mediocre year or two if we can SEE that reinforcements are on the way.

I think Tubby can probably coach basic fundamental basketball and squeeze the most out of the players he has. But the ceiling on the roster he's put together is so low that even coaching his ass off just isn't going to be anywhere near good enough.

Totally agree. Totally.

RE: Two questions: What is Tubby's "Process?" And how long until we're DePaul?
The process seems to be recruiting 3-stars and Juco's that he likes (for whatever reasons he has for liking players) and trying to make them into a team. He's in his second year here and had some unusual circumstances in his first one which make it, for me, hard to judge.

The second year of his last job, he brought in 7 new players -- 2 Juco's and 5 freshmen. All 5 freshmen are all still playing for TTU and averaged about 10 & 4 last year (except the one who got hurt.)

I like the 3 freshmen we signed this year. Without the mass defections, they would've been an OK recruiting class. Maybe they'll stick around and contribute like the ones at Texas Tech. I don't really remember the last time we had 5 who were still around 3 years later.

But the recruiting, in light of the defections, was/is not good enough to allow the "normal" process time to work. That, not X's and O's, will probably make or break the Tubby Smith era, and for Tubby, that's not good news.

That and him taking a 3 month vacation after getting hired. He thought he had a pass for the first year, little did he know that Memphis is aware.
