A Sweet 16 caliber team or better without leaving the Memphis area and before grad transfers and JUCO's. The infrastructure is in place for success at Memphis. It just takes the right coach to seize the bountiful opportunity.

Hire Penny now and it's a two year turnaround.

Wait and there's no telling.

Do you think it is realistic? Does he even want the job?

He said on a radio show (forgot which one) after Pastner left for GT, that he would some day like to coach the UofM.

Yes, I think it could happen.

And, yes, I think Penny wants the job.

His son could attend Memphis, we could sign Lomax(and others), Tubby could **** off, Jason Smith could kick Saul's ass, and you might even get the Lawson's back.

Two year turn around with a very high ceiling going forward.

Right now, the ceiling and the floor are one with each other.

There's no way he's kicking saul off as a coach, and he can't afford to loose Joe or Pooh. Plus Tubbs wants saul to get the gig after he retires.
air apparant.

No one is that stupid.

That's funny.

Sorry, I was on a roll.

Except that for at least 60 of the 65 games Dedric played for us, he played out of position, played hard, put up great stats and didn't do or say anything publicly brought any negative publicity to the school.

Agree . But it doesn’t seem like those can be removed.

Tho there was not any evidence of his Bench coaching ability in the last game. Did you saw any half time adjustments...? We had 20 fouls on them at half time . Shrug?

I did see bench coaching ability on offense. We came out of several timeouts trying different tactics to get good looks, and we got good looks. We're just couldn't make them.

On the defensive end, we got manhandled and we played like we were scared of contact. I don't know what happened there aside from we've got a bunch of young, skinny, inexperienced mediocre talent that hadn't experienced that level of physical play before and they wilted.

Don't get me wrong, I've already seen enough to know where the Tubby-era is headed. I just don't think people are being realistic with the name-calling, and with the expectation that someone is going to pay him $9 mil to go away at the end of the season. We're stuck with him for awhile,

RE: If we had hired Penny...
If Penny wants to Coach Memphis, the job should be his, unless Cal said he's coming back and then Penny should be his top assistant.
Penny knows the game, not only does he know the Pro Game, but he is the best BALLER to ever play for the TIGERS
The Dude will be able to recruit Memphis better than Coach Finch and Larry could recruit Memphis.
The game today with so many one and done is made for Penny. Get this done soon

Penny's lack of collegiate head coaching experience is irrelevant to him getting the job or not. Penny would win and win big from day 1 and the excitement surrounding the program would likely reach and maintain levels that fans have come to expect.

Or you guys can stick with a guy currently losing to Little Rock.

SMDH.
