Miami vs Virgina
With a let down coming off of the convincing ND victory, and likely 45-50k in attendance next Saturday vs sellout of 65k, and less turnover chain crazies, does VA have any chance?

I don't know, tickets are selling well. Start at $26 on StubHub, could be close to a sellout again. Canes roll 42-14.

UVA definitely has a chance. I think their defense is good enough to hold onto a lead. That means Richt needs to convince his players to take the Wahoos seriously right from the opening kick...

VA will likely be 7-10 pt underdogs. As a Canes fan, I hope Diaz can keep his 18-22 year old kids focused with a bowl elgible opponent. VA has nothing to lose and the "U" has championship aspirations that could dissolve with s loss.

I hope they beat VA handily then have a close win at Pitt to get their attention maximized at Charlotte vs Clemson.

The Hoos aren't 7-10 point underdogs. They are 7+10 point underdogs. But it's November, and they are still dangerous.

I don't see this as too big of a risk as a let down game. Miami now knows that they have a clear path to the CFP if they keep their foot on the gas.

If Miami is indeed back, which i think they are only going up after this year....
and with VTech's resurgence. That means the ACC will have finally achieved what it wanted when it invited all this football schools to begin with.

The Atlantic being a monster with Clemson and FLorida St. and now the Coastal being a beast with Miami and VTech!!!! All us other guys success is all GRAVY!!!!! This is totally great news for the ACC Network.

FlossY Out...04-wine

Should have clarified my point about underdogs. With underdogs being what I thought they would loose by, not a betting line, which I expect to be well beyond 7-10 pts, as the initial line was 18-19.

Miami Herald reported a day ago that 800 tickets remained. I checked out Stubhub and placed the cursor over the seating sections. Most seats in available in any section was 175, many less than 100 and about 25% less than 10 or more. I know it's not a true guide but it does give a feel for attendance. Me, bought my tickets Monday and I'm in section 325. Go Canes!!!!

I wasn't disagreeing with you. I tend to think your guess is about right. My only point was that 18 point underdogs don't lose very often. But they do lose sometimes, so the Canes better not sleep on the Hoos.

I'm pumped as I am going to the game. Go Turnover Chain.

RE: Miami vs Virgina
Attended the VA-Miami game. Great to see 63k in attendance. Lackadaisical first half as expected. Strong 4th quarter as Miami finally wore down the Cavs. Canes simply have better athletes and more of them.

And now to something very interesting. The noise. The volume of the noise. The decibel level. It was deafening at times. One could not talk to one immediately beside them. One had to scream. I've been to packed houses at the stadium. Attended the Yankees/Marlins WS for 3 games. Never have I approached any sound level, at any sporting event or concert, that even remotely approached the sound level yesterday. Shortly after the game began I secured ear plugs. Without them I would have stuffed napkin pieces in my ears in vain. Numerous people around me had their hands over their ears trying to mute the volume level.

Now the upgrades at the stadium installed a partial roof. It acts like an arc that rolls the sound back down instead of emitting to the sky. The stadium in the past was known as one being subdued as much of the crowd noise was lost. When first built, many complained it was a disadvantage compared to the volume of the old Orange Bowl. That is not the case now.

One of the guys seated with us noticed "prescence" microphones. From working in TV in the past, these are mics hung to hear crowd noice that are then broadcast as background ambience. Are the Canes amping the crowd noise? I'm either getting old and becoming suspectable, or the roof addition has caused a huge volume change, or are the Canes are amping the sound?

I know I'm getting old and I know they added to the roof. I'm also believing the Canes are amping the crowd levels. Still. Go Canes!!!

I was there for the Cuse game...Hard Rock is amping the crowd noise. Pretty obvious.

WQAM host Joe Rose, a former Dolphins tight end and current Dolphins broadcaster, told Mark Richt during their Monday morning radio spot that the Dolphins “players, coaching staff and front-office folks” who attended the Miami-Notre Dame game “said it was the loudest they’ve ever heard that stadium, not even close. The closest they had was the old Orange Bowl,” the stadium that hosted the Dolphins until 1986 and Hurricanes until 2007.

My fellow Cane fan. TM was only agreeing with my lengthy comment about what appears as possible amping. If you have a beef, it should be with myself. I tried to give some explanations of what could have caused the huge increase in sound including stadium improvements with the upgraded roof. Fact is, my ears are still ringing without having ear plugs from the second quarter on. I was in section 325. It is possible I was seated in a unique seat that caused the arcing sound to increase. And fact is the PA is played to such a decibel level one cannot hear the person beside one when music, game action descriptiions, or announcements were made. That was consistent in section 325, at the food court and all around the 300 sections.

And I've been to the Orange Bowl many times and it was never that loud.
