Not listening to the game i watch. To me the offense is the same we just have a true point guard.

BTW, we have not yet seen Silver or King. Could both be redshirt candidates??? (and we have not seen the two frosh walk-ons, either).

If this is true, it could be a big sign of good things to come because outside shooting means teams can't double Thompson!

I am not sure if it is improved or not:
Game 1 10of29 for 34.5%
Game 2 10of28 for 35.7%
So not great, particularly considering the competition. Though I will take your point in that I am not as worried about it as before.

You're right. Those %s don't jump off the screen. I guess I meant the number of different players who can hit the 3 has improved.
Minnie, Harris, Groce, Nobles, and apparently Bond has improved as well. Maybe with more games and confidence under their belts, that 3-point % will rise.

Fair assumption, unless someone gets injured. The rotation these first 2 games has been 11 players- anymore would just be disruptive. I would even argue to thin it out by a player or 2- though I am not sure who you could justify taking minutes away from. All 11 seem like legitimate rotation players.

we shot 34% from three last year, and the leading MAC 3-pt shooting team is normally around 36-38%. it's early in the year against inferior competition, so i'm not going to put too much stock in our 3pt percent yet. i agree that we have a nice number of guys with legit 3pt shots.

My only problem with the three pointers is that too many were taken early in the shot clock.

Dear WoodenNickle,
I agree, and that was (in my opinion) a problem last year with our guards crossing the time line and shooting a three which in many cases missed. Thereby not taking any time off the clock, and possibly setting up a scoring play.

Thompson just took to Twitter to express his frustration over his emotion being miscategorized:
"Dear ESPN commentators: If you do not understand me, please stop assuming my reasoning for doing things. 9/10 I’m mad at myself for something that I’m not doing! NOT ANYONE ELSE. me THROWING MY TOWEL ON THE FLOOR WHILE I AM SUBBED OUT OF THE GAME is me saying dam that’s a dum foul, i gotta do better for my team. Not oh god james is emotional Talk about how I’m cheering for my team"

I hear what he's saying, and I think far too often announcers/writers/fans go over the top with trying to play psychiatrist. At the same time, the optics are bad and it's not helping that he's had issues containing his emotions in the past that have cost his team.
I love how hard he works and that he plays with emotion...you can tell how much he cares about winning. But as long as he's still finding himself on the wrong end of discussions with officials and losing his cool emotionally, there will be scrutiny.

I agree, Sam. As a D1 college athlete, you can't take things like that too personally. But I do understand his frustration in having been constantly categorized as 'overly emotional' or whatever. Even in games where he's performing well and not showing an behavioral/emotional issues, it always comes up regardless of the context he's expressing himself.
But again, stuff like that will come up when you're under the spotlight. You won't always like what people say about you. Channel that into your game.

Precisely.....and last year when everyone came down on Lee and Mangum for taking a 3pt shot early in the shot clock, I pointed out that the coach allows this to be part of his offensive system. When we have a player with Thompson's talent, he should touch the ball 70-100% of the offensive possessions. Thompson's talent level only comes along to a school like us once every 20years.
I've not seen us play yet, but I'm certainly hoping for more discipline in our offense.

Uh-oh, here comes the Murphy bashing. Next up zone defense is ineffective...
Kidding with you, Luckey.
