I hope they stfu about those "evil" cut blocks - given how ND was blocking the perimeter today.

Totally copied your playbook. Total cheaters....just like Memphis.

I don't mind that they cut. That's football, and every team cut blocks.

What I mind is the endless drone of subway fans about how dangerous and unsportsmanlike those blocks are.

Exactly my point...

Memphis fans complain about cheating until it benefits their own team. They are one in the same - a bunch of cheating cheaters.

100% correct, most passing teams cut on pass blocking as well.

I feel sick about this game. We could have had this win but Abey just can't force that pass. It feels like the year we were driving at ND when Keenan was QB. A mud ball caused a bad pitch and we ended up short by a yard.

Navy put up a great fight. Was hoping they could steal the W, but not to be.

Houston today looked like a team that is on the verge of giving up on the season. If Navy can beat them and Army ā€” and Iā€™m not taking either for granted ā€” still time for the Mids to have a successful season.

I also like the writer's analogy of the game, it is like a Rhino chasing a mouse until it gets crushed. I am hoping the mouse wears the Rhino out until it hurts itself.

The weather could be miserable for this game. Normally I would like the ground and pound but I like our chances more against ND when we can pitch the ball out to our slot backs and we use our quickness to keep ND guessing.

I was struck by his prediction of 56-20.
ND had SIX possessions last year - you just can't get to 56 points if that's the case. 56-21 in the Dublin game in 2012... This isn't the ND team that went 12-0 and got to the BCS championship.

Last year's template for beating Notre Dame still applies: limit their possessions, operate efficiently in ours without turnovers or drive killing penalties and we are in this with a chance to win.
This year's Navy team has not yet shown the super-Navyness that November 2016 enjoyed: in four games that month we punted twice. After ND we averaged 61 points per game in three AAC matchups. It was a joy to watch.
So yeah, possess the ball, play cleanly without turnovers or penalties, and convert in the red zone, and all of a sudden every Irish possession is a pressure-cooker. Obviously that's the game plan every week but it is magnified vs ND when we are that much more overmatched 22 guys vs 22 guys.
I expect to see ND wanting to run it down our throats. Wilbush may or may not he their weak link but if I am Kelly I want to rely on my stud O line and my "33trucking" Heisman candidate. That's why I am not sure that potential weather is in Navy's favor.
We can win this. We need to look like Navy did this time last year, not like we saw in our three game skid. Navy D needs a couple stops, but even in last year's win that only meant one ND punt and twice settling for FGs.

I really like Navy's chances to cover a three score spread.

So disappointing.
This wasn't a game I predicted as a win when I said we'd go 9-3(6-2). With the loss to Miami, any "trap game" atmosphere went away.
We came SOOOOO close.
A lot of the blocks above got checked. 42:42 possession. 2 penalties for 16 yards. On ND's 7 possessions (not counting the kneel downs as a possession) thrice made them punt, and bowed up in the end zone early to hold them to a field goal..
Much like Memphis and UCF, ball in hand driving to tie or win at the end of the game.
And just came up short.

We were near perfect.
And that isn't enough for Navy against a top ten team.

So there you have it. On to Houston.

Would have been a huge win for the conference...and a nice dent in the playoff system.

Good game Navy. You could have won it. Even though Navy is not ranked in the top 25 they are a quality team. Their loses have been close when playing the top 25 teams. They need to become a little more balanced to win against the better teams imo. 04-cheers

Abey needs to learn not to throw into double coverage. He did that against Temple and Army last year and he has continued to do it. The first and 10 wheel route yesterday was covered from the snap and the safety didn't budge. Abey needs to make something happen with his feet or throw it out of bounds. Our receivers need to be taught to knock those bad passes down too.

I like our chances if we don't lose that possession.

It will be interesting to see if Abey is our QB for next year or if they go all in with Perry.

Beat Houston!

If by "a little more balanced" you mean fitting in an 0-12 in between successful seasons, we'll pass, thanks.
