At work, so I don't have the volume on. How is our man KPJ doing on the PA? Killing it, I'm sure.

They probably mentioned this on the broadcast, but SAU is actually 5-0 on the season.
Doesn't mean a whole lot, but as far as NAIA teams go, this is a good one.

man i love Chad Bush. he's clearly a fan, he knows these guys well, but he's also willing to point out the problems. i love what he said about the risk of Thompson being in the middle is foul trouble.

Terry Harris has a nice looking shot. Now 3/5 from deep. Jackson's vision is much better than any guard we've had in a while. Hit Thompson in the post, who kicked it back to him, and then found Harris in the corner instead of taking his own shot. Point guard stuff.

They can shoot. Pump faking the hell out of us too. I feel like we aren't disciplined enough on defense, and it's probably frustrating Murphy to no end. But it's nice to see ball movement on offense, and guys hitting open jumpers. Two problems we've had for basically all of Murphy's tenure.

i agree about defensive discipline, but i also think falling for pump fakes is the cost of playing a zone. you're always charging out towards guys behind the 3pt line. in the NBA, you see this with the Bucks a lot. Kidd's defense isn't a zone, but it has a similar amount of scrambling and it leads to falling for pump fakes, which are a byproduct of rushing out on a guy who just caught a pass.

Our bench has honestly looked better than our starters against these guys in the closing minutes.

RE: Game Day: Spring Arbor
I'll go out on a limb:
We have the best and deepest front court in the MAC.
We have at least 6 players up front who can play.
I assume King redshirts. Silver didn't play. Correct? Redshirt candidate?

RE: Game Day: Spring Arbor
What I saw:
The only way teams, other than high majors, will beat EMU is by playing a disciplined, three point shooting game.
If they make the trey, they have a chance. If they play an up tempo game vs. us, they will have big trouble.
Most mid-majors are going to have trouble matching our athleticism.

I had work so I could not attend. How did our student section look? It was a tough sell to ask many to show up so early on a Friday.

Many, many in the student section but they were all elementary school students, not EMU students.

RE: Game Day: Spring Arbor
Didn't see most of the 2nd half, but it looked like Ty Groce filled it up. He and McAdoo had impressive debuts.
For quite a bit of the game, this looked to be a team that is still getting used to each other. Having only 3 returning contributors will do that, so it's nice for them to get their feet wet without pressure. It remains to be seen just how good (or not so good) this team can be, but I was encouraged by the offensive ball movement/shot selection, at least in the first half. They need to clean it up a bit on the defensive end, but I'm not too worried about that.
Does anyone remember the last time we played 3 scholarship freshmen (redshirt or not) in 1 game? I don't think we ever have in the Murphy era.
EDIT: I didn't realize Bud Jones got in the game, so that's 4 scholarship freshmen! Definitely a Murphy record.
