Akron - OHIO
Do any Akron fans know if your starting quarterback and running back are going to be back for our game?

Our starting RB and backup RB are out with really horrible ankle injuries. They're not coming back. No word on the QB. He was suspended for reasons unknown because our local newspaper has like a 5-person staff and the beat reporter seriously could not care less about the Zips

Ohio will have no trouble with Akron. Another season in the trash thanks to injuries at key positions. Happens every freaking year.

I think that kid who played QB the other night could be a real weapon for Akron in a few years. He has great athleticism, just needs to get a modicum of accuracy and some protection to really become a threat.

I don't think Akron will be a cakewalk for Ohio. If you look at the past three seasons, it's a 9-3 Ohio win, a 14-12 Ohio win, and a 23-20 Ohio win. Your defense seems to excel at keeping us in check. Looking forward to a hard-fought game.

Also I feel your pain about the injuries. Ohio has had many seasons in the past where they were bit by the injury bug in a really bad way, and we even lost our running back A.J. Ouellette last season after he got injured in the first game. Here is to wishing you a healthier outing next year. So much more satisfying to win against each other when we know we are both at full strength.

RE: Akron - OHIO
Am I reading this wrong? Or does the Hustle Belt think Akron beat Miami last week?

Quote:Akron comes in to Tuesday’s contest fresh off their own impressive win last week over Miami, not because the opponent was especially strong or the result especially impressive. Rather, it was how it happened that made people take notice. Just before kickoff, Akron’s starting QB Thomas Woodson was suspended for a violation of team rules, meaning the Zips would be led by freshman Kato Nelson.....

Hustle Belt

Also, any news on Woodson?

And just like that, Akron is a Wagon Wheel win against Kent State away from the MACC. OU is allergic to the MACC.

Definitely way more that went into this loss, but pretty amazing that Solich used his last timeout after 18 seconds had run from the play clock on first down.

Thank god we are done crowning OU already. Shows the short weeks add up and can alter teams performance.

Bobkittens flubbed a chance at a MAC east title by losing to a 5 loss team who was using a quarterback getting his second start, a team who had two defensive starters ejected for targeting in the first half and accumulated over 200 yards in penalties. Guess that big win versus Toledo was a wasted effort. Enjoy the bus ride back to Athens.

Okay, this loss was totally painful. But, I am an Ohio fan so I am used to disappointment.

But, I must say on a side note it is almost comical how the MAC has successfully knocked down their two teams with the best records before they could properly bask in the full glow of the national spotlight. Such is life in the MAC I guess. lol

RE: Akron - OHIO
Miami is actually technically in the East race, albeit with a very small chance. We have to beat EMU and Ball State, Akron needs to lose to Kent, and OU needs to lose at UB. Per the Miami boards we'd win the obscure tiebreakers since we're all 1-1 against each other and it'd come down to how we did against UB, albeit with a very small chance of actually happening.
