Landon Fickell
Just stopping by to get some information on Landon Fickell. He was on a visit down here last weekend with his Dad.

Our O-Line Coach really likes the kid but everyone here figured he was a lock to play for his Dad.
Is that what you hearing or is he one of those kids that wants to leave home and not play for his father.

Thanks

Honestly his name hasn’t come up until this week. From what I’ve heard you guys have a pretty solid OL coach and that’s why he’s looking at the Cards.

RE: Landon Fickell
Coach Fickell has kept his son's recruitment out of the news by and large and I think that's appropriate. It's the young man's decision and he may well wish to get away. The fact that he is a Louisville target would suggest that he could help UC too. But I think most everyone here would respect his decision to go--or stay home.

I am guessing that they are taking their visits like any other recruit, and they will look at a lot of their options. I have no information about the kid, or what he wants to do, but personally, If my dad was a college coach, I would not want to play for him. That seems like a lot of added pressure.

Yeah, I think the first thing I would want to do if my dad were a college coach would be to cross that school off of my list. Way too many bad things could happen...if he leaves, you're screwed, if you get anything that could even REMOTELY be considered unfair treatment it fractures the locker room, and it's college, why would you want your dad around? 03-lmfao

Or, try this one...

"Son, as an O-Lineman, you will likely redshirt where ever you choose. By the time you start playing, it's likely I may have taken a job at another school. You should make the best choice for you, and not worry about where I am or am not coaching."

Sure I'd like to keep CLF. But he will also be a hot commodity for other openings.

Who knows...

He's taking visits. I'm not reading too much into it. If he is good enough, UC will offer a scholarship and he will have a decision to make. If he is not, he's the type of guy that could get a walk on (not knowing anything about his talent). It would be weird to have Fickell's kid playing for another team but he has to do what's best for him.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since his dad works at the university, doesn't he get free tuition anyway, so we actually wouldn't have to use a scholly on him? I thought that is how CTT's son came here as a QB.

...until he decided to walk on at Auburn. I think you're correct though, which is probably why a lot of coach's sons end up being walk-ons.

Heck, Coach John Tenuta’s son Luke opted to play OT at Virginia Tech over an offer from CLF to come play for the team his dad coaches.

Thanks for the info Guys, I appreciate it.
Let me take this opportunity to congratulate y’all on your win over UCF.
It looked like a great atmosphere.

As the child of a university employee Landon would qualify for free tuition except for the major of Pharm, or graduate degrees of Law and Med.

Some kids want to play for their dads. Some don't.
I'll trust that Luke and Amy will provide Landon with proper guidance.
Kid probably grew up a huge tOSU fan so if he is good enough to get a scholly from them I'm guessing that's where he'd wan to go.

If we are honest, Luke may prefer him to go to OSU as well if he gets an offer. Even if Cincinnati was his first choice I’m sure OSU would easily be a close second choice and one where he would probably understand why his son would want to go there and follow in his footsteps.
