Many folks are hurting for cash in a political/economic system now putting more and more pinches on many NIU grads, fans and donors.

And if the proposed tax plan goes through as it is now, it could mean the death of some athletics departments. Donations tied to seat selection could be virtually wiped out under the plan.

It’s one of the worst tax plans I’ve ever seen written.

The $20 I can afford to give would do nothing to help this huge amount of money they are trying to raise.

I still live in Illinois. Thanks to the tax increase IL passed, we have less money than ever before. I understand the crunch NIU Athletics is in...I am in it too.

I used to work with Les Muma at a failed savings and loan in Tampa. He took over the computer subsidiary and took it private and made a fortune. He was and I am sure still a great guy.

There must have been some big time donors as it didn't appear that there were that many donors overall. Kudos to them.

I believe the interim NIU president and her husband gave 25K. They also tweeted about multiple former athletes giving substantial amounts. But, kudos to the whole athletics team on this one

Final number published was $115,246 from 169 donors. $682 average.

The median donation would be significantly lower assuming a few major donations.

I wonder if they are considering our interim president in the search for a permanent president.

Although I have no way of assessing her performance, she is well spoken and from all of her remarks that I have read she has been a good spokesperson for the University. She was asked to take on a difficult job and she is handling it with grace.

Agreed. However, they really aren't starting the search until after the Holidays.

I thought she said she didn't want the job.

They all say that at an interim appt. Can move, but who knows?
