Looks like WMU pulled an EMU. Fans in meltdown mode.....fire Lester! 03-lmfao

They got so delusional over their program last year a loss like this is kinda funny. PJ was a once in a lifetime coach for them. They are just now coming to that realization.

Watched 3/4 of the game, and still don't believe CMU is a very good team. No reason we shouldn't win next week. #5 the RB is legit, have to shadow Conklin with 1.5 guys (although he was non-existent in this game), but I think our D will definitely be up to the task.

Dear EagleTough,
I would agree with your assessment of Central, and I believe if Western could have thrown the ball in the second half, they may have won.
We can't look past Ball State tonight, before we start thinking about Central. I just want Eastern to come out and play the way we are capable, without being overconfident. Play hard and maybe we will get to see some of the other players involved. I really would like to see Stiebeling get some reps, as well as others and give our regulars a rest.

PJ was far from a "once in a lifetime coach". Look at all of the coaching talent that came out of the MAC. He has Minnesota at 4-4 right now when they finished 9-4 last year.

It was probably, ya know, the fact they had Corey Davis, Zach Terrell, Taylor Moton, and Keion Adams. Teams don't lose all that talent and immediately go back to being elite. Any WMU fan who thought they were going to win the MAC again was completely delusional. Everyone knew it would be Toledo this year, barring some fluke.

I only watched part of the game. There was the World Series, Wizards, etc. etc. (sports overload).

WMU without Terrell (he was better than many gave him credit last year), Wassink, etc. is a shell of itself.

They can be beaten by teams which are half-decent. Give Terrell another year with this team and WMU would be 100% better.

I hope that isn't a foretell of 2018 for us.

Once in a lifetime for WMU, not talking about the entire MAC. The best teams in the MAC ebb and flow based on the quality of their head coaches and QB's. Those 2 factors alone probably account for 90% of the success or failure of any given MAC team. NIU had their run with great QB play not long ago, then it was BG with Babers, and PJ took your program on an amazing run with a veteran QB. Hopefully they enjoyed it while it lasted. I was rooting for the Broncos like everyone else.

They still, ya know, probably have the best overall talent of any team in the MAC. Whining about losing a few players is just an excuse at this point. PJ stockpiled that team for 4 years, not just 1. The main reason Toledo was/is this year's favorite goes back to my point above. They have a good coach, and by far the best QB in the MAC.
End of story.

Who knows, Lester may grow on the job, make some coaching changes, and end up being a good MAC coach. Or he may be a horrible overreach, as many in Broncoland are now claiming. If he's mediocre to bad they're right back to being a mediocre to bad team. Have to find the stud QB as well. Wassink seems decent, but Goddard certainly doesn't look like a future All-MAC performer.

Just like everybody else, our season next year will be very good or poor depending on whether or not we find a legit QB replacement for Roback.

Strangely, I feel kinda bad for Bronco fans after that one, because we've managed to lose at least 4 games this year just like they did last night.

Not sure why you keep saying "you", I'm a CMU fan lol.

I agree it has a lot to do with coaching and QB play. But the main reason Toledo is the best right now is because they have the best team:
#1 in passing yards per game
#2 in points per game
#3 in rushing yards per game
#3 in yards allowed per game

They pass well and throw well, along with having a good defense. Toledo simply has the best team in the MAC. Maybe they end up losing to NIU tonight, idk, but they clearly are a step above the competition thus far. And it's not just due to their QB. Woodside has only been sacked 12 times and 4 came against the Hurricanes. They have a very good OL that allows their run game to flourish.

Yeah, realized that late, changed it to 'they' 03-shhhh

We agree they're the best team, I just give more credit to the QB.

Should be interesting next week. I think we have the better team, but you've got home field. As long as our punter or kicker doesn't blow it, we should win a close one.

Morris looks shaky at best, and our DLine should be able to get after him. #5 is a nice RB, but we've been stout against the run all year (Army doesn't count, haha). May come down to whoever turns the ball over the least.

I agree EMU is significantly better than the record indicates. I'm not going to give them every benefit of the doubt like some people and say they should be 6-2, but they realistically should be around 5-4 (after tonight). They are the same caliber as CMU really, but you guys have a poor offense and a good defense.

CMU can be the best team in the conference or the worst on any given night. Last night we were horrible in the 1st half and great in the 2nd. We should be favored over you guys by a couple, but I don't think it matters. We have beaten WMU and Ohio, you guys lost to both. However you guys played Toledo tough and we got torched. Should be a tight game in the 20's.

Got your wish, EagleTough!

...well mostly, the offense scored 49 before that Hubbard pick 6.
