I think GS has the potential to make some noise this year if we can hit our dang free throws

The biggest key to our winning more games is improving our rebounding.

CBS Sports ranks all D-1 teams:

https://www

Doesn't think much of the SBC and may be less of the CUSA juding by the lowest ranked teams. Bunch of teams fighting for the bottom.

Georgia Southern has the same strengths and weaknesses as they did a year ago. The league's best guard tandem, guys who can shoot, rebounding will be a question mark, defense needs to bring it every night, not just when they feel like it.

CBS has the Cajuns fourth in the league despite having four starters back, plus three transfers from major programs (South Carolina, Missouri, USC) and one of Louisiana's most prized recruits. CBS mentions Johnathan Stove, who probably won't even start, as the Cajuns' best player.

They'll be better than fourth in the league.

That has been the case the past 3-4 seasons.

RE: GS is ready for basketball
If the bottom of the league improves, this has a chance to be a top ten RPI league this year.

UTA, GS, GSU, Troy and Louisiana have a chance to be awfully good. Arkansas State is a dark horse. Texas State has a LOT of new players but they are very well coached.

The key to excellence in this league will be if the other five are better than they were a year ago. I think ULM will be. App, too.

That leaves CCU, LR and South.

That was TXST's official name from 2003 to 2013. I don't think anyone ever colloquially or pejoratively called us Texas State University-San Marcos...they just continue to call us Southwest Texas State (or SWT).

Even though we lose 3 starters, I think this will be the best TXST basketball team in a long time. Kaspar has fully implemented his system and our recruiting has been good. I'm excited to start the season.

Our OOC schedule is very weak this year...hopefully we can start to bring in decent OOC teams next year after (hopefully) back-to-back 20 win seasons and a fully renovated Arena. NO MORE WALL!

RE: GS is ready for basketball
89. Georgia Southern Eagles
The top team in the Sun Belt will have a voracious bounce-back from a bizarre second half of the end of last season. This team started 14-6/7-0, then finished 3-9, al nine Ls coming in league play. Team is nothing but juniors and seniors. Could be a nightmare of a 13 seed. Tookie Brown and Ike Smith, both juniors, star

102. Texas-Arlington Mavericks
Scott Cross' team deserves to reach the NCAAs this season after building to this point the past three seasons. Kevin Hervey is a possible future NBA player, and Erick Neal's also in the mix for All-Sun Belt consideration.

151. Troy Trojans
Jordon Varnado is one of the best players in the Sun Belt. Troy won the league's auto bid last season and figures to be in the top four, at worst, in the conference again.

178. Georgia State Panthers
D'Marcus Simonds would make any Sun Belt coach's list of the best players in the league. And he's only a sophomore. I'd expect this team to be in the top 150 next year.

187. UL Lafayette Ragin Cajuns
The Ragin' Cajuns got a senior starter named Johnathan Stove, and let me tell you: that guy can get hot.

197. Arkansas State Red Wolves
Mike Balado is the coach here now. He was on Louisville's staff until this past spring, having spent four seasons with Pitino. The Red Wolves will be a top-five team in the Sun Belt, probably.

256. Texas State-San Marcos Bobcats
The loss of three senior starters combined with the fact that Texas State got 22 wins vs. a bland schedule has me thinking the Bobcats will revert to average in 2017-18.

271. Appalachian State Mountaineers
Had the worst 3-point offense and the worst 3-point defense in the Sun Belt last season. The good news is there's no way that repeats. You literally have to try to be that bad on both ends two seasons in a row -- and lose out.

283. South Alabama Jaguars
Matthew Graves' team went 7-11 in the Sun Belt last season and loses a lot of seniors. Probably a few steps back for these Jaguars, who thrive on turnovers.

290. Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks
Not much here. Let's check where ULM was ranked in last season's 1-351 ... No. 230! Gah, the inevitable slip.

293.Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
Jaylen Shaw and Demario Beck are back. What does that mean? It means Coastal's going be just OK in the Sun Belt.

321. Little Rock Trojans
Not a good sign when you're the clear-cut best team from the foul line in the Sun Belt but still finish in the bottom three. The Trojans are going to need to hit the rest button this season, methinks.

Missouri State is the favorite in the Valley? You guys didn't do that well last season, and beat no one in the Top 100.

Return 4 starters, POY of the Valley candidate, top 2 off the bench and a solid recruiting class of a top JUCO and two grad starters for the bench. Deepest Bears team since the 2011 Valley champions. Coaching is only concern.
